MetroMRT – Metrology for molecular radiation therapy
1 session: Calculation codes and applications in ionizing radiation metrology
MetroMRT is a joint research project (JRP) within the
European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP). It brings
together expertise in ionizing radiation metrology and nuclear
medicine research. The main goal is to address the problem of
determining the radiation dose to individual patients who are
undergoing molecular radiotherapy (MRT), also known as
targeted radionuclide therapy, or nuclear medicine therapy.
Chairman: B. Zimmerman (NIST)
The consortium consists of 6 National Metrology Institutes (NPL, CEA/LNHB, CMI,
ENEA-INMRI, PTB, VSL) and about 20 clinical research centres from 8 countries. The
st
project began on 1 June 2012 and is running for 3 years.

The 2 scientific workshop aims at bringing together metrology institutes and
clinical research institutions to discuss about calculation codes (beta spectra, image
reconstruction, Monte Carlo simulation, etc.) applied in the fields covered by the MetroMRT
project (ionizing radiation metrology, quantitative imaging, dosimetry). Applications and
limitations (in terms of biases or uncertainties) of these codes will be addressed during oral
presentations and round tables.
