In all of today’s readings, the temple is
prominently mentioned. Ezekiel speaks
of streams of living water flowing out
from the temple, watering the desert,
bringing life to all living things, offering
fresh healing to God’s people. Paul reminds the Corinthians that their faith rests upon the firmest of foundations, Christ himself.
More than that, Paul reveals that those
who follow Christ are themselves
temples, temples of the Holy Spirit;
that is, God dwells not only with them,
but in them. For the Jews of Jesus’
time, the temple had come to be identified with the presence of God and the only place where authentic worship of
God took place. Jesus had a different perception. Jesus
identified himself not with the temple, but as the temple. In
so doing, Jesus indicated a dramatic shift in what it means
to worship God, to be in God’s presence. No longer was a
place to be the focus of prayer. Instead, a person, the person of Jesus Christ, becomes the center of our worship.

ORGAN RECITAL
Mission Dolores Basilica will be presenting The Second Sunday Organ Recital Series Inaugural Season 20142015 in conjunction with the Centennial Celebration of
the Basilica Church on today Sunday, November 9th in
the Basilica conducted by Stephen Boniface. A frequent
San Francisco Bay Area recitalist. Stephen is currently the
organist for Stone Church of Willow Glen, and has served
for over two decades as organist and/or Music Director for
various San Francisco Bay Area churches including the
Basilica Cathedral of St. Joseph. He has accompanied the
Ragazzi Boys Chorus, Vivace Youth Chorus, SJSU Concert Choir and Opera Workshop. The recital begins at
4:00pm. Free Admission. Suggested Donation - $10.00.

The Legion of Mary sanctifies members
through a life of prayer and apostolic
works. Under the mantel and protection
of the most Holy Mother of God, the
Legion of Mary works jointly with the Church to promote
a life of grace and Holiness among its members. If you are

En todas las lecturas de hoy, el Templo
es mencionado predominantemente.
Ezequiel habla de aguas vivas que
fluyen del Templo, regando el
desierto, trayendo vida a todas las
cosas vivientes, brindando salud y frescor al pueblo
de Dios. Pablo recuerda a los
corintios que su fe reposa sobre
bases firmes, Cristo mismo.
Más que eso, Pablo les revela
que quienes siguen a Cristo son
templos ellos mismos, templos
del Espíritu Santo, es decir, que
Dios no solamente habita con
ellos, sino dentro de ellos. Para
los judíos de los tiempos de Jesús, el Templo era
identificado con la presencia de Dios y como el lugar
santo en donde la verdadera adoración a Dios tenía
lugar. Jesús tenía una percepción diferente. Jesús se
identifica a sí mismo no con el Templo, sino como el
templo. Al hacerlo, Jesús mostró un cambio
dramático en lo que significa adorar a Dios, estar en
la presencia de Dios. Ya no sería un sitio el centro de
oración. Ahora una persona, la persona de Jesucristo,
viene a ser el centro de nuestra adoración.

Campaña Católica para el Desarrollo

ANNUAL APPEAL 2014
Each year our Archbishop asks us to join in his efforts to provide programs and ministries to the people
of this Archdiocese. These programs include outreach to the homeless, aid for the very poor, ministries to youth,
senior citizens, the disabled, the sick and others. One parish alone
cannot do this; it takes a concerted effort on all our parts to do
Christ’s work in the world. Our parish of Mission Dolores has been
assessed the amount of $26,700. Any money raised over this amount
will remain in the parish and can be used for our own needs. Let’s
all agree to be good sharers of the benefits God has given us; whether we ourselves have much money or very little, the Scriptures tell us
that God loves a cheerful giver. We can be assured that God will
bless our desire and effort to help others. Please read the brochures
provided, and consider what you can do.

APELACIÓN ANUAL DEL ARZOBISPO 2014
Cada año nuestro Arzobispo solicita que nos unamos a su esfuerzo
para proveer programas y ministerios a las personas de la Arquidiócesis. Estos programas ayudan al pobre, a aquel sin techo, al anciano,
al minusválido, al enfermo y a otros, además de ofrecer ministerios
para al juventud. Una sola parroquia no puede con todo, debe ser una
coordinación y esfuerzo de todos nosotros para cumplir con el trabajo de Cristo en el mundo. A nuestra parroquia Misión Dolores se le
ha asignado la cantidad de $26,700; los fondos adicionales que
se recauden después de cumplir con esa cantidad se quedará
en la parroquia y pueden ser usados para las necesidades de
la misma. Compartamos los beneficios que Dios nos ha dado, sea que nosotros tengamos poco ó mucho dinero, las
Escrituras nos dicen que Dios ama al que Dios bendecirá
nuestro esfuerzo y deseo de querer ayudar a otros. Por favor

We of Mission Dolores Basilica Parish, as part of the Catholic
Church in the Archdiocese of San Francisco, pledge ourselves to be
a light shining in the darkness through the love that we share in the
name of Christ, and through the power and guidance of the Holy
Spirit. We pledge to celebrate the rich ethnic and cultural diversity of
our parish community, to grow spiritually by giving loving service
to those in need, to build community through liturgy, hospitality and
ecumenism, as well as through social and cultural events, and to
promote social justice in our neighborhood and city. We encourage
the members of Mission Dolores to enrich themselves by participating in the liturgies, devotions and other activities of the parish, by
sharing their faith with others, and by living their daily lives according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
