As you celebrate the life of your loved one, we hope to surround you with love and support. Know that you will be shrouded with prayers for peace and comfort throughout this process. TO SCHEDULE A FUNERAL: 1. To schedule a funeral or memorial service for a loved one at First United Methodist Church of North Kansas City, please contact the church office and/or the pastor at (816) 842-3944. 2. The pastor will meet with you to discuss arrangements for the funeral service. The pastor will lead you through a time of remembering your loved one and will guide you through the planning process for the funeral or memorial service. 3. After consulting with the pastor, you will receive a call from one of FUMC-NKC’s funeral consultants who will help you think through essential components of the funeral or memorial service, such as coordinating for the delivery of flowers, the printing of bulletins, the acquisition of tables and stands for the display of photos or artwork, or any audio-visual accommodations needed. 4. Family visitations, funerals, or memorial services are conducted morning, afternoon, or evening. 5. To help defray the costs incurred for a funeral, a minimum honorarium to the church of $400 for nonmembers and $300 for members and their immediate family members is requested. See below for a breakdown of these expenses and options for additional services. The honorarium should be submitted at the time the funeral or memorial service is scheduled. Checks should be made out to First United Methodist Church of North Kansas City. THE DAY OF THE FUNERAL: 1. Please invite immediate family to arrive at least fifteen minutes prior to the visitation or service. 2. A room will be designated to offer your family space for privacy when needed. Please gather in this room five minutes prior to the beginning of the service. The pastor will meet you here to pray with you and guide you to reserved seating when the service is to begin. Those items with an asterisk (*) are optional and would be an additional cost. Those considerations with two asterisks (**) are waived for church members. When scheduling a funeral or memorial service for your loved one at First United Methodist Church of North Kansas City, fees and honorariums should be paid prior to the service and should be made directly to the church.
