OutIn 3rd Period standing was Larry Fortunoff, The stubborn Far Rockaway who picked up about 150 yards Of Park Bowling League By 5 Points Sea Horses gained a 7-6 lead in on the ground, carrying most of the third quarter of the football game with New Rochelle last Saturday, but couldn't keep the visitors from winning 20-7. The Sea Horse score was made when Brian Slowey recovered a fumble on the New Rochelle 30yard line. Two plays later, Robert Brown carried the pigskin over with an end run. The conversion was made by Larry Fortunoff. Although New Rochelle did the scoring from then on, the visitors' gains did not come easily. At one point Danny Sandler almost intercepted a pass. If he had, he would have gone for a touchdown. Later, New Rochelle drove 25 yards for a touchdown. With approximately two mirv utes left to play, Far Rockfway had the ball on the New Rochelle 30-yard line and John Gay nor went back to pass. He was hit, however, lost the ball, and New Rochelle drove approximately 30 yards for a touchdown. That score was made with about a min- the time. The Far Rockaway team was hampered throughout the game because fullback Robert Steiner could not play. He was out of the game with an injury. Crowd Gets Into Fifijht Another problem arose at the end of the game, when two players, one from each side, got into a fight. The crowd took sides and surged down onto the field. The near-riot was quelled by coaches and officials. Also to be noted is that Far Rockaway's defense held exceptionally well. Brian Slowey played a wonderful game. As for Far Rockaway's offense, it was good, but hurt by two opposing linemen who stood 6 feet 4 and weighed 250 pounds each. At the end of the game, scoreboard read: Far Rockaway 0 0 7 0 7 New Rochelle 6 0 0 14 20 Maskin's Mens Shop swept 11 points last Wednesday night for the second straight week and led the Rockaway Park Bowling League by 5 points. Bob Boggiano paced the team with a 204, 213, 589 series. He was aided by Tom Lynster's 222, 542 series and Frank Hall's 522 series. Their victims were W.F. Brunner Realtors whose only bright spot was a 528 series by Elmer Gould. The Donnelly Plumbers upset Donohue's Wines & Liquors, 8-3. Sam Osias bowled a 522 series and Walter Schultz had a 221, 517 for the plumbers while Ted Stathis rolled a 523 series for Donohue's. In a close match, the 129TH St. Delly defeated the Hegarty Movers 6-5 to climb up to third place. Bob Bilboa's 212, 568 series gave the Chase Manhattan Bank an 8-3 win over the Georges Florist. The Florist salvaged 3 points when Chet Maskin bowled a 517 series. W. H. Blum & Sons Insurance finally got on the scoreboard as they beat Mammes Ice Cream, 8-3. Boggiano & McaWlters emerged victorious over Rogers Hotel 8-3 on the strength of Ben Bornstein's 533 series. Jerry Millstein had a 200 game for Rogers. Bulloch's Servicenter blanked the Peninsula General Hospital, 11-0 as Sponsor Jim Bulloch sparked his team with a fine 212, 225-574 series. The final match was a contest between pharmacies with Becker's Pharmacy besting Neiman's Pharma'cy, 7-4. High for Becker's was Al Troyan's 535 series and a 501 by Mike Machlis. For the losers Murray James had a 203, 527 series. Brunner Realtors 3 back, threw a perfect pass to Horace Dennis for the touchdown from the 21-yard line. The ILC Social Club then went into the scoring column, blocked a kick and got the safety. Just before the half ended, Igoe throw a touchdown pucs to Henry Karp. In the second half, Igoe quickly scored two touchdown on passes to Dennis and Victor Ellas. But ILC was not out of the game; it came back strong with two fast touchdowns, both on runs by quarterback Paddy DelGais. From then on, the Arverne Packers played tight defense and held off an ever-threatening ILC team. Beach Flyers Win The Beach Flyers stayed in the running for the league title by beating the Baymen 37 to 13. The Beach Flyers scored the first touchdown of the game, when Bobby Walsh made a honey of a catch from George Shea that carried 45 yards in the air. The Baymen retaliated on a pass followed by a lateral (Dick Webb to Jimmy Keenan to Billy Cavanaugh. In all the play was good for 40 yards and the score. The Beach Flyers then scored two touchdowns, the first on a deflected pass that Mike Shea finally ended up with. Jimmy Morton outbattled two defensive players for the second touchdown, a 45 yarder in all. Morton added the extra point on a pass from George Shea. George Shea and Morton teamed up for the next scoring play, good for 55 yards. The Baymen then scored, as Webb unloaded the "bomb" to Cavanaugh. Webb added the extra point on a run around right end. The Beach Flyers scored the last two touchdowns on passes, Ira Spieler to Bobby Walsh and to Vinnie Alba. Seagull All Stars Win The Seagull Stadium All Stars won their first game of the season from the Giants 12 to 0 in the last game of the day. The Seagull Stadium All Stars played tight defense and came up with two big scoring plays. The first was a 35-yard pass, Driscoll to John Hahan, and the second a 15 yard pass, Driscoll to Paddy O'Connor.
