Winters PTA will host their Monthly Meeting this month on
Wednesday, October 8th, at 6:30pm in the Waggoner Library. Childcare will be provided. There will be a Family
Literacy Night on October 15th at Rominger from 6:00pm7:30pm. The schools will be hosting a Staff Appreciation
Lunch on October 10th. Please help our children and
schools out by coming out and participating.
Remember to Vote
Come out and cast you vote for the Gubernatorial General
Elections on November 4th. There will be elections booths
at both the Fire Department in the EOC/Training Room and
at the Community Center in the Conference Room. The
polls will be available from 7am– 8pm.
Winters Theatre Company
The Winters Theatre Company is preparing for some magical holiday fun! WTC will present The Best Christmas
Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson, which will open on
November 21st and run for three weekends. Questions

12th Annual Scarecrow Contest and
Chamber Mixer
12th Annual Scarecrow Contest beginning Saturday, October 4. The scarecrows will be on display in downtown Winters and throughout the community through Halloween.
Building a "crow" is a wonderful way to showcase your
business or home. The display always brings many visitors
to our town and is a great way to get in the mood for the
coming fall. Business and resident displays will be judged
on the basis of creativity and originality; prizes will be
awarded by the Chamber of Commerce. The design of the
scarecrow is the builder's choice. Residents and businesses
can participate by calling the Winters Chamber of Commerce at 530-795-2329 and registering their entry.
On October 13 from 5:30-7:00 p.m., the Winters Chamber
of Commerce Mixer will be hosted and held at Berryessa
Brewing Co. on Highway 128 with co-host Carbahal and
Co. and "Celebrate My Drive" being the featured service
organization. Everyone is welcome. $10 gets you drink,
appetizers and a raffle ticket for a chance to win some great

Winters Parent Nursery 17th Annual Children’s Festival
Winters Parent Nursery School (WPNS) is
hosting its 17th annual Children’s Festival
Saturday, October 18 10am-3pm at the
Creekside Recreation Park. Admission to the
event is free, but tickets to play games and
refreshments will be sold at the event. Fun
family-friendly activities are planned this year
including children’s music concerts from The
Papa Hugs Band, carnival games, prizes,
jump houses, silent auction, food, and drinks.
One “Pick-a-Pumpkin” raffle ticket holder, who
does not need to be present, will win a $500
prize. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the school or from the family of any
students currently enrolled at WPNS. Contact
WPNS at 530-795-4659 if you have any questions about donating, becoming a sponsor or the
event.
People Continue to Conserve Water
Our drought continues, with more reports of
wells going dry in the area surrounding Winters. Winters municipal wells are showing
lower water levels, approaching levels last
seen in the 1977 drought. In August we used
48,787,000 gallons of water, down significantly from August 2013, when we used
64,867,000 gallons.
The good news is that residents are continuing to conserve water, and our water use for
this year to date is the lowest in many years.
This, despite the fact that it is a struggle to cut
back water use in hot weather.
Fixing water leaks is more important than ever.
To find out if you have a leak, call the City at 530
-794-6716. The Water Department can give you
a graph of your water use, hour by hour, over the
past three months. This graph is very helpful in
looking at how you use water and how to
change. If you have a high bill because of a leak,
the City can adjust your bill if you fix it promptly.
Winters Building & Code Enforcement Division Host SVABO
The Winters Building and Code Division was honored to host the Sacramento Valley Association of
Building Officials meeting Friday, September 12,
2014.
Mr. Carl Malamud of Public.Resource.Org was the
guest speaker as Building Officials and Staff from
the greater Sacramento Region learned about
Edicts of Government and the Rule of Law. Mr.
Malamud’s organization continues to work on making government documents more accessible to the
general public by posting them on the internet.
These documents include public safety codes,
technical standards and laws that affect our daily lives.
A special thanks goes out to Ms. Robbie Rubio, Arco
AM-PM, Berryessa Sporting Goods, The Buckhorn, El
Pueblo, Lorenzo’s Town & Country, Spin and Yarn,
Tomat’s California Cuisine, Turkovich Family Wines
and the Winters Chamber of Commerce for their generous donations and help in making this a very successful event.

Winters PD Offers Halloween Advice
Have a safe Halloween with these handy tips:
1. Plan your route, for those trick or treating
without parents, leave a copy of the plan at
your house with the time you plan on returning.
2. Bring a flashlight to illuminate dark costumes and help with navigation. Don't have a
flashlight? Come to the Police Department for
a free glow stick.
3. Make sure your costume fits and consider
using make up instead of a mask. (Long costumes can become tripping hazards while a
mask can block your vision)
4. Check your candy when you get home and
make sure you throw out any candy that is improperly wrapped or expired.
Winters Harvest Festival
The “Winters Harvest Festival” in Winters,
CA. brings local producers and artisans together to celebrate the fall season. “Winters
Harvest Festival” will be held on Friday,
October 24th from 5-8pm. Vendors will be
located on the first block of Main St. on the
corner of Railroad Ave (outside on the street)
in Downtown Winters.
The Winters Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring this event in an effort to celebrate the
producers of agriculture, arts and crafts in Winters and the surrounding area. Local producers
will be selling fresh produce, eggs, preserves,
nuts, olive oil and honey.
Resident arts and crafts people will sell handmade products that would make ideal gifts this
holiday season.
Live Music at the Harvest Festival will be
provided by “West Nile Ramblers”.

Festival anual infantil de WPNS 17anos de Celebración
Padres de Winters escuela infantil (WPNS)
está organizando Festival sábado su XVII
anual infantil, octubre 18 10am -3pm en el
parque de recreación Creekside. Entrada al
evento es gratuita, pero se venderán boletos
para jugar juegos y refrescos en el evento .Diversión familiar actividades están planeadas este año incluyendo conciertos de
música infantil de la banda de Papa Hugs,
juegos de carnaval, premios, casas de alto,
subasta silenciosa, alimentos y bebidas. Un
"Pick-a-calabaza" rifa billete titular, que no necesita estar presente, ganará un premio de $500.
Boletos son $10 cada uno y pueden adquirirse
en la escuela o de la familia de los estudiantes
actualmente matriculados en WPNS. Si tienes

La sequía continúa, con más reportes de
pozos secándose en los alrededores de Winters. Los pozos municipales de Winters
muestran niveles más bajos de agua,

en 1977 por la sequía. En agosto se utilizan
48, 787,000 galones de agua, abajo significativamente desde agosto de 2013, cuando

Departamento de Policía ofrece asesoramiento para Halloween
Tener un Halloween seguro con estos consejos
útiles:
1. Plancificar su ruta, para esos trick o treating
