SIA OHS CONSTRUCTION FORUM

INVITATION TO
12th SIA OHS CONSTRUCTION
FORUM
The details of the 12th SIA OHS Construction Forum are as follows:
Title:
SWMS: “Amendment = Control = Potential Liability; Implications for current Victorian practices.”
Over the last few years SWMS have featured in evidence in a number of OHS prosecutions. A number of these
cases have featured multiple duty holders with questions about principal contractors and subcontractors
responsibilities and capacities to influence and control featuring prominently.
Are Principal Contractors taking on too much responsibility? How far should a principal contractor go to
address the OHS short comings on their subcontractors? Can a principal contractor rely upon the expertise
and safe systems of work of a subcontractor in order to defend themselves? How can things be improved?
