S143-2014 New Occupational Health and Safety eLearning modules
Main Points
•
Employees feeling safe and productive in the workplace are a major focus for the
Department and crucial for the delivery of the Department’s core goal of improved
educational outcomes.
•
The four new OHS eLearning modules are in addition to the modules that were released in
December 2013.
•
The new OHS eLearning modules are designed to complement current DEECD
Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) policies and procedures in
line with the DEECD OHS Policy and the OHS Induction and Training Procedure in the
OHSMS.
•
The new modules have been developed to meet the OHS risk profile of the Department and
will focus on required, recommended and specialist role training.
•
The Department takes a strong view on OHS training and views the new OHS eLearning
modules as a core part of OHS training.
•
The new OHS eLearning modules available from Monday 5 May 2014 are:
o Contractor Management
o Hazard and Incident Reporting
o Ergonomics
o Manual Handling
•
Each OHS eLearning module takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.
•
On accessing the Learning Management System (LMS) dashboard, employees will view
the relevant OHS eLearning modules that have been assigned to them.
•
A library of all current available OHS eLearning modules will be available by accessing the
Course Catalogue link on the LMS dashboard.
Actions Required
•
Principals are asked to distribute the DEECD Mail to all employees.
•
Principals, managers and employees are expected to complete all OHS eLearning
modules assigned to them as part of their core OHS training requirements by 14 July
2014.
•
Principals and managers are strongly recommended to reinforce that part of an
employee’s OHS obligation is to complete all OHS eLearning modules assigned to
them.
Critical Dates
•
DEECD employees will be enrolled into assigned modules and notified by email of each
individual enrolment on 5 May 2014.
•
It is expected that the OHS eLearning modules are completed by 14 July 2014.
Additional Information
•
More modules are currently being developed and DEECD employees will be notified via
DEECD Mail as they become available.
•
Further OHS advice and support is available by contacting the DEECD OHS Advisory
Service on 1300 074 715 or email: [email protected]
