CHANGE OF SEASON CULTURE
John Rogan, Robert Bacon, Dianne Haaf
Three of our experienced members will discuss bringing your orchids inside
as the seasons change. Some of us put some or all of them outside for the summer,
so we will be bringing them back inside. Even if they haven’t been outside all
summer, adjustments to their culture are needed for the cooler winter blooming
season.
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Greetings Everyone
Welcome back to our thirty fifth season of South Jersey Orchid Society. I
hope everyone had a good summer.
As fall approaches, it is time to start thinking about adjusting our orchid culture for the cooler weather. Some of us put some or all of them outside for the
summer, so we will be bringing our precious babies back inside. At our first
meeting on Sunday, we will be dealing with those issues.
We have an interesting year planned; so check out the schedule of speakers
and workshops.
The Annual Auction will be held in November. So as you are dividing your
plants, remember that your donations help to make the auction a success. This, in
turn, helps us to afford the great speakers.
The DVOC Speakers Forum is scheduled for the day before our first meeting. Iff you haven't already made your reservation, there is still time. We also
welcome guests at the door. There is a copy of the reservation form enclosed.
Sunday, Sept 21, 1 PM. Come a little early, Share your darlings on the
Show Table.
Happy Growing
Dianne

SHOW TABLE REMINDER:
Show table judging begins at 1:00 PM. To have your plants recognized for judging they must be on the
Show Table, with the entry cards by 1 PM. Skip Vandegraft, our photographer, suggests that attention to
placement of supports, clips, etc. has multiple benefits, including enhancing the appearance of your plants,
increasing the chances of being awarded, and also reduces the need for retouching by the photographer.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
The next Board of Trustees meeting will be Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 7:30 PM at the Bacons. Anyone is
welcome, but please call the Bacon’s to tell them you’re coming.
MEMBER’S MINUTE
This is a time when members can ask for advice about any problems they are having with an orchid.
We encourage you to bring any plant that you have problems with, or questions about, to the meeting.
We do prefer that you contact the president [Diane Haaf, (856) 629-5610, [email protected]] prior to
the meeting so that we know what to expect.

J&L Orchids is for Sale
After 35 wonderful and rewarding years we are offering J&L Orchids for sale. Business has never been
better and we encourage you to consider becoming the respected owner of this unique orchid nursery. We are
selling the business to be relocated from its current site. Since J&L is primarily responsible for the huge
popularity of miniature orchids, our whole inventory including standard sized plants, can be accommodated
in a 3000 sq. ft. growing space. Included in the sale is our name and impeccable worldwide reputation, plant
inventory, mailing list, website www.jlorchids.com, that generates a continuous year round income, and all
necessary business contacts. We have been informed by USFWS authorities that the transfer of our extensive
CITES Master List will be a simple procedure, enabling the new owners to sell orchids internationally. Here
is a chance to travel the world in the name of orchids.
Until we find a buyer, we will be conducting business as usual. Interested parties please contact us.
