Sameer Abdul Azeez is a scientist at the Naval Physical and
Oceanographic
Laboratory (NPOL), Kochi, which is one of the
laboratories of Defence Research and Development Organisation
(DRDO). He is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from National
Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut and a post-graduate in Industrial
engineering & Management from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)
Kharagpur.

He has an excellent academic track record throughout his career, having secured the 8
rank in the state in SSLC (1996) and second rank in the University for Pre-degree (Kerala
University, 1998). He served as the Chairman, Student’s Union at NIT Calicut. At IIT
Kharagpur, hew on the Director’s Gold Medal for being judged academically best among all
post-graduate students of the institute. He also won the Institute silver medal for the best
outgoing student of the department.
Sameer joined NPOL in 2003 and has been working in the areas of design, analysis,
simulation, development and testing of engineering subsystems of sonar systems for the
Indian Navy. His major contributions are in the areas of air borne sonar systems, seabed
sonar system and application of systems engineering concepts. In 2007 he won the NPOL
Award for “Development & efforts in getting air worthiness certification of hydraulic motor for
airborne
winch”. He also won NPOL Team Award for “Successful demonstration of
performance of the integrated Sea Bed Array system in its maiden trials”. In 2009 he was
part of the team which won the DRDO Team Award for the successful development of Sea
Bed Array Sonar .He also served as the Project Manager for the technology demonstration
project ‘SWADESH’ in which he was instrumental in developing an advanced airborne winch
system and indigenizing critical component technologies. In view of this, he was conferred
with the prestigious ‘DRDO Young Scientist Award’ by the Scientific Advisor to Raksha

Mantri on 26 March 2014.
Currently, he heads the Centre for Global Business & Collaboration at NPOL, and is
engaged in exploring the potential for export of NPOL-developed systems to friendly nations
as well as pursuing foreign technology cooperation. He also holds the additional
responsibility of Business Manager, and has been instrumental in enhancing the image of
the laboratory through various international exhibitions and business meets, besides
maintaining a synergized interaction between users and industries. He was part of the
Indian delegation to Seoul, South Korea and Jakarta, Indonesia for defense exhibitions and
his efforts helped to garner global appeal for DRDO-developed sonar systems.
He has several
publications to his credit in terms of research reports,
conference
proceedings and journal papers, both national and international. His hobbies include literary
activities and movies. He is also an avid quiz enthusiast, and has conducted various
quizzes for colleges and professional bodies.

Mr. Anbuselvan T is currently pursuing career at Wipro GE
Healthcare Pvt Ltd, Chennai as service manager, managing a
team of high-potential engineers. He joined GE in 1999 and has
an experience of 20 years applying successfully good practices
in customer support, relationship development and team
management. He is a person who believes in sincere hard work
and straight forwardness.
Mr. Anbuselvan T graduated in B.E., Electronics and Instrumentation
Engineering from Bharathiar University securing 3rd rank, pursued Post-Graduate
Diploma in Medical Instrumentation Technology (P.G.D.M.I.T) from Coimbatore
Institute of Technology securing 2nd rank, and also holds MBA in Marketing and
Systems from Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad.
Mr. Anbuselvan T started his career as sales and service engineer at Kody
Elcot Ltd, Chennai in July 1993. He worked with Blue Star Ltd, Chennai as senior
customer service engineer during the period 1995-1999. He joined Wipro GE
Healthcare Pvt Limited, Chennai in 1999 as senior engineer customer service,
thereafter holding the positions of product manager, MR service specialist, MRI
remote service leader, and presently being the service manager responsible for the
business operations of Tamilnadu and Srilanka.
Mr. Anbuselvan T won the Global Service CEO award in 2012, in the
“Making it Personal” category, for Customer Relations and Team Mentoring, after
being a gold medalist in the GEOS survey in 2012. He developed and executed
the first ever MR 1.5T training in India. Teaching is a passion for him and was
recommended for technical teaching assignments of MR profile systems at ATC,
Wuxi, China and Operational Facility, Bangalore.
