The Board Meeting started in 2004 on the
Sunshine Coast. The event is run by a dedicated
group of volunteers and raises much-needed funds
for local disabled children and their families, who
have fallen through the cracks of Government
support and are doing it extremely tough
financially.
The Board Meeting – Northern Rivers Chapter
We have established a local group of volunteers to bring The
Board Meeting to the Northern Rivers. We seek to repeat the
success of the Sunshine Coast by bringing local businesses
together to raise funds for our local kids in need.

The Board Meeting – Surf Event
Each year we draw on the enthusiasm and generosity of the Surfing and Business
communities to participate in an amateur surfing competition where the emphasis is
on having fun and helping raise funds for the charity. It is also a great opportunity to
get businesses together in the water, have a good time whilst giving something
back to the community and enjoy the best feeling of helping kids in need.
Local businesses enter teams of four surfers who take to the water in heats to
battle it out. The competition is open to young, old, amateur, pro, male and female.
Since 2005 The Board Meeting has raised close to $400,000 for local kids and their
families in need. The overheads are minimal to ensure every single dollar goes into
supporting the beneficiaries and their families.

The Surf Memorabilia Auction
After the Surf Competition we have a gathering to present
trophies to the winners. We hold an auction of Surf
memorabilia, local business donations and other items of
interest where we are able to increase our ability to raise the
much needed funds.

Entry conditions:
We, the team described above, as evidenced by the signature of the authorised agent for each of us, whose
signature appears below, acknowledge that as a precondition to entry by us, jointly and severally:
1. We will abide by the rules of the competition.
2. We understand that surfing is inherently dangerous and that we will each be solely responsible for our
actions and their consequences particularly with respect to loss and damage to ourselves, others, our
equipment or that of others.
3. To the fullest extent possible by law we each absolve and release irrevocably the organisers, the chosen
charities, their employees and officers, and any others involved in the event and indemnify them against any
claims of any nature arising from our participation in the event.
4. We will abide by the rules of the competition as published and amended from time to time and by the
decisions and directions of officials which relate to the event.
5. We accept that this is a charity fundraising event with the focus on fun and business contacts. We
undertake to keep this in mind at all times.
