The DLE is the Digital Learning Environment:

A lot of Dutch institutions use the term ELO
(Electronic Learning Environment). This term
causes a lot of confusion, because is it used to
address a single applications (like Blackboard)
as well as the whole of applications for
education.
This is the globally used English term of
applications like Blackboard.

LMS IN HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE NETHERLANDS
Research towards LMS usage in the Netherlands,
September 2013.
Respondents: 13 universities, 27 colleges (hogescholen)
Results:
• 18 institutions only use Blackboard
• 8 institutions use Blackboard and other LMS's
• 17 institutions use sharepoint as LMS
• 4 institutions use a homemade LMS

• Virtual Learning Community (VCC), Edmodo(.com),
Learning4You
• Zelfbouw: SIN-online, PsyWeb, OASE
