THE SCHOOL BOARD OF BROWARD COUNTY, FL ZDH Reminder ZDH is an attendance subtype used to stop payment. All days between the first and last day of an employee’s contract, excluding weekends, are considered “Paid Days”. This includes scheduled workdays, paid holidays, and unpaid days off. Therefore, if an employee is not entitled to a paid holiday or unpaid day off in accordance with their contract calendar, the ZDH subtype must be entered to prevent compensation for that day. Sick Leave Accruals Reminder: Sick leave accruals for the 2013-2014 school year will end February. Last accrual date for employees on the AA schedule is 2/14/2014 and the BB schedule is 2/07/2014. Eligible employees will complete the annual accrual period in February since they received four (4) days of sick hours at the beginning of the school year. Future time entry for sick hours/days in excess of an employee’s available balance is prohibited as this could result in a possible overpayment. Union Dues Deductions Employees returning from leave should review their first paycheck to ensure their dues deduction is reinstated. If a written request was submitted to the Payroll Department to end the deduction prior to the start of their leave, then, they should review their paycheck to make sure the dues is not being deducted. Dues deductions cannot be stopped without written authorization from the employee. Worker’s Compensation Please contact the Risk Management Department at 754-321-1900 when an employee is injured in the line of duty.
