If you have a registered parishioner to add to our
prayer list, please contact the executive assistant in the
parish office. Please let us know when it is time to
remove a name from the list. Please inscribe the
names of non-parishioners (e.g. family members,
friends, neighbors, co-workers) in the prayer intention
book found in the church vestibule. Please inscribe
their name only once as their needs will be
remembered at Masses throughout the year.
If you are hospitalized or homebound and would like
to receive Communion, please call Pat & Gary Boylan
at 941-204-7837.
You may also contact someone from the Eucharistic
Apostles of Divine Mercy who will pray the Chaplet of
Divine Mercy or other prayers with you. Please call
Lillian Pente at 843-705-7170.
In the first few days after our first child was born, I
wasn’t conscious of time. I’d sit still and look at this
miracle of life, knowing that I loved her with all my heart
and that our lives would never be the same. I’d get to
the end of the day and wonder where the time had
gone. And when she was married last year, I
remembered those days like they were yesterday.
Something like that is happening now, but the first
week of Easter is more than a recollection of the empty
tomb. Each day’s Gospel reading refers to
appearances of the risen Christ to his disciples. In this
way we mark the “new creation” brought about by
Christ’s resurrection.
For many of us, the week
was another round of work or
school. Our busyness might
have kept us from giving
much thought to the feast we
just celebrated. But in our
spiritual lives, time has stood
still for a little while so we might ponder this miracle of
life. It’s a reminder that we’re born new in this moment,
an invitation to savor the experience and allow
ourselves to be changed by it.
In today’s reading, St. Paul gives us a glimpse of
what life reborn looked like for the new Christian
community. There was unity of heart and mind and
generosity toward those who were in need. After the
resurrection, their lives would never be the same.
The Church takes its time with Easter so that, no
matter how old we get, we’ll remember it like it was
yesterday and live accordingly.

St. Gregory the Great Adoration Society
“Would you not spend one hour with Me?”
Eucharistic Adoration is adoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ
Our Perpetual Adoration Chapel gives us an opportunity to spend an hour of prayer and give thanks for the
many blessings we have received. This hour in peace and meditation with the Blessed Sacrament can also be an
opportunity to pray for our friends and family who are sick or just need our prayers. Christ instituted this Holy
Sacrament of the Eucharist in order to remain with mankind until the end of time (Jn. 14:18).
Our wish is to have someone present for each of the 24 hours throughout the day in silent contemplation and
reflection. We can use more adorers for this ministry. Please be generous with your time and sign up for one
hour of adoration.
If you have any questions or feel you can sign up for just one hour per week please call John Klinger 757-7454 or
send an email to [email protected].

monaguillos sonaban unas campanitas indicando
altar. Sin embargo, respondíamos con las palabras
del apóstol Tomás: “Señor mío y Dios mío”.
Estas palabras reconocen y adoran la presencia
de Jesús en el pan y el vino. A este momento se le
consideraba el más importante de la misa. No
propio idioma.

LENTEN ACTIVITES
Prior to Easter Break, SGGCS students did
various Lenten activities to emphasize the
importance of Holy Week. Spiritual activities
included a traditional Seder meal, a schoolwide Stations of the Cross, letters to Jesus,
retreats at JPII, arts and crafts and
performances.
HOLY WEEK ACTIVITIES AT JOHN PAUL II
While academic and athletic life went on, students at John Paul II were also able to participate in a Lenten
penance service and holy hour on Monday, with five priests available as confessors. On Tuesday, students whose
names were drawn at the conclusion of the school's Lenten retreat traveled to Charleston to witness the annual
Chrism Mass. Bishop Guglielmone not only remarked publicly on their attendance (for the second year in a row)
but also was happy to pose with them on the cathedral steps.
The Chrism Mass each year is one at which the
priests of the entire diocese renew their priestly
commitment and their promise of obedience to the
bishop. During the liturgy the holy oils used for
baptism, confirmation, ordination, and anointing of the
sick are blessed and then distributed to parishes all
over the state.
At the end of the week, at the Easter Vigil, one of
our own, "Profesora" Byrd, will be welcomed into the
Catholic faith. The school prays and rejoices with her
as she makes this significant step. Alleluia!

Divine Mercy Sunday
On February 22, 1931, Sr. Faustina
Kowalski saw a vision of Jesus with rays of
mercy streaming from the area of his heart.
He told her to have an image painted to

Trust In You.” Jesus said: I want this image to be
solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter. Pope
John Paul officially pronounced this Sunday following the
Octave of Easter “ Divine Mercy Sunday”.
You are invited to attend “Divine Mercy Sunday” prayer
service Sunday, April 12 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Gregory the

In the Beginning ...
Chris's heart started beating 18 days
after conception. Chris may have a
different blood type than Mother's.
Chris's neural tubes are forming and
will develop into the nervous system.
Already, Chris has the foundation for thought,
senses, feeling and more. The amniotic sac, which
will house Chris, is formed, and amniotic fluid will
cushion Chris throughout pregnancy. Chris now
has a yolk sac which supplies blood and nutrients
until the placenta has developed and is ready to
take over.

AGRADECIMIENTO

nuestro planeta.

CHRISTIAN OUTREACH
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
We invite you to help the poor and the needy of
Greater Bluffton.
We are The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St.
Gregory the Great. We are all volunteers. We
respond to calls from our help line by
visiting callers in their homes, apartments and
trailers. They need food, rent, water and electricity.
We see their needs up close, hear their stories,
verify the facts and make sure your money does as
much good as possible. Come join us, as a
contributor or as a member.
To contribute, please use the envelopes at either
side of the church doors or write to us at 333
Fording Island Rd., Bluffton, SC
29909. We
welcome new members every 1st Saturday of each
month at 9:30 a.m. in St. Andrew Hall.

Karios Cookie
Well it is that time of year again. The Kariros team
will be going into the Allendale Correctional Institute
April 29 through May 3 to take the word of the Lord to its
residents.
We will take approximately 38 volunteers to the
prison to present the Gospel to 36 residents with the
hope that the seed of the Lord will fertilize some of these
fellows. As you know, we take 7000 dozen cookies into
the prison to give to all the inmates, 1300 guys, so they
will have some connection also to our Ministry.
Please help us make this huge goal by making/
donating cookies and bringing them to the school by
Tuesday, April 28, no later than noon.
Cookies must be oatmeal, chocolate chip or sugar.
They can have no powdered sugar or fruit on top. It is
helpful if they are packed in zip lock bag with a dozen in
each bag. Do not use aluminum foil to wrap cookies.
Do not pack in large boxes. Shoe boxes or Pizza boxes
are ideal
Thank you for your help with this project. If you have
any questions, please contact Jack Burt at 843-7059798.
