Placing our Sins on the Cross of Christ
Taize Lenten Prayer Service
Friday, March 27th at 7:00 pm
Please join us! THIS FRIDAY
The Cross evokes some powerful feelings for us as disciples of Jesus. We contemplate the love of our God who willingly accepted the
Cross to pay the price for OUR SINS. This amazingly simple evening of prayer and reflection focuses us on the Cross of Christ. You
are invited to join us for a guided meditation on the meaning of the Cross in our lives. If you have never experienced this prayer
before, you will encounter a wonderful way to prepare for the mysteries of Holy Week with soft music and powerful visual images.
Please save the date and plan to join us!

Memoal Candle Renewal The special memorial alcoves in our church were created for yearly remembrances of loved
ones, living and deceased. We hope that these beautiful areas offer you a special comfort and an opportunity to honor and memorialize
your loved one(s). A year has come and gone and it is time to consider renewing your MEMORIAL CANDLE(S). These candles stay
lit 24 hours a day for 365 days. The annual offering is $200 which will benefit the ongoing maintenance of the church. Because we
have a limited number of these beautiful candles, we are requesting current candle remembrances be renewed ASAP. Please contact
Rose Mackenzie at the parish office (482-3954) to indicate your preference for renewal or not. The deadline for renewal commitments
is March 28th. This will allow us to offer any undesignated candles to others in our parish who may want to remember a special loved
one beginning with our Easter 2015 celebration.
Your generosity in supporting the work and ministry of our parish is greatly appreciated. May the prayers offered and the love
represented in these candles be a sacred sign of God’s loving care for all our special needs.
Have a beautiful and holy Lenten week.
In Christ’s love,
Fr. Pat

THE NEW COVENANT
When the prophet Jeremiah coined the term
“new covenant” he was actually doing
something quite radical. For the Jewish
people, there was only one covenant, the one
made between the Lord God and Israel
through Moses at Mount Sinai. For Jeremiah
to suggest that God would somehow
supersede the covenant with a new one
would have sounded audacious to Jewish
ears. But in this way he is a predecessor of
Jesus who, in the Gospel of John, is
continually portrayed as superseding the past,
establishing the reign of God in a new way.
And in today’s Gospel passage, Jesus the
“new covenant” speaks the language of his
“new commandment” of love when he tells
of the dying grain of wheat, and of our own
need to die to self in order to be raised with
Christ. As Lent ends and we prepare to enter
into Holy Week, the dying grain of wheat
serves as an excellent symbol of the kind of
dying and selfsacrifice to which disciples are
called, a symbol of that new covenant written
deep within our hearts.Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

anualmente a nuestros seres queridos, vivos y difuntos.
Padre Pat
