April 5, 2015 Easter Sunday
Resurrection of our Lord
SEEKING
Easter Sunday is a day all about seeking. The
early Christian communities gathered around the
Apostles, seeking more about the life and ministry
of the Lord Jesus. Saint Paul told the baptized
Colossians to “seek what is above.” Mary of
Magdala went to the tomb, seeking to find the
Lord’s body so that she could anoint it. We come
to church on Easter Sunday seeking many things.
For some of us, this is a once a year journey,
when we seek connection with the foundations of
the Christian faith. For others, this day is the
culmination of a long journey of Lenten
repentance. For the newly baptized, this is the first
day of a new life filled with promise and
expectation. Whatever it is that we seek, let us be
inspired by the disciple whom Jesus loved who,
when he saw the wrappings of cloth inside the
empty tomb, “saw and believed.”

2• CHRIST, THE GOOD SHEPHERD PARISH, CAMPBELL, OHIO
Happy Easter!
It is wonderful to celebrate in such a splendid way
each year this central mystery of our faith: Jesus
Christ died. He rose. And, in the Holy Spirit, he
offers us life after death! In Christ, at Easter, we see a
whole new world open up—a world only seen by
faith. We see a world that acknowledges the power of
the things that weigh us down (sadness, struggle,
darkness, sin, grief, oppression)—but, we see a world
that is even more powerful. In Christ, at Easter, death
and darkness were rendered powerless. In the Holy
Spirit, Christ’s life is with us each day and is
promised to us forever—a life of joy, peace,
communion, mercy, light, life, hope. At Easter, we
immerse ourselves into this part of our Christian
lives—as we celebrate with family and friends and our
faith community. There are many wonderful
traditions that we experience at Easter—traditions
celebrated at home and the world over. It is
wonderful to celebrate in such a splendid way each
year this central mystery of our faith.
At the beginning of February, we began to have all of
the Sunday Masses at St. Joseph’s church. Obviously,
today is an exception. I am glad that we were able to
accommodate the request to have Easter Sunday Mass
in each of our churches. Of course, it is bittersweet.
Our realities are still the same, and we are still moving
towards the day when there is only one worship site at
Christ, the Good Shepherd Parish. This is sad, and it
is an experience of great loss. But, our faith reminds
us that, in Christ, at Easter, these things can be
overcome. We are promised the day when the parish
will rise anew—with all of its traditions and cultures
resounding in a great symphony. In short, we are
promised life after death. I look forward to that day!
As you know, each year RCIA candidates are received
into the Catholic faith, through the Sacraments of
Initiation. We rejoice in the men and women who
joined our parish this year. Thank you for your
growth in faith, hope, and love (a gift to us) and I pray
that we may continue to be a supporting community
for you!
Finally, a word of welcome: Welcome to all of our
visitors. It is good to be with you today! And, to all
of those who aren’t visitors, it is good to be with you,
as well. Safe travels to all of those coming and going
from near and far!
Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!
God bless you,
Fr. Conoboy
Felices Pascuas!
Padre Conoboy

Stewardship Thought: 50 Days of Joy & GraƟtudePope Francis reminds us in The Joy of the
Gospel, “Christ’s resurrecƟon is not an event of the
past”. We are reminded this Easter Sunday of
the ever-living joy the resurrecƟon brings. OŌen
this joy gets lost in daily life and struggle. We are
called to reclaim the joy of the resurrecƟon and to
be grateful for all God has done in our lives. We
then can respond more authenƟcally with our
Ɵme, talent, and treasure. How can I grow in joy
and graƟtude this Easter season?
Entonces
podemos responder más auténticamente con
nuestro tiempo, talento, y tesoro.
Pascua?
