The Altar Society is assisting the diocese sponsoring a "CAPS OF LOVE" program to help the disabled. This is the only U.S. Affiliate with the international charity "Bouchons D'Amour". By recycling
plastic caps they raise money to buy wheelchairs for
disabled children among other things. The caps are recycled by
companies and turned into useful products. A collection box is in
the Narthex on the table under the bulletin board. PLEASE
MAKE SURE CAPS ARE CLEAN AND DRY. ONLY
PLASTIC TWIST CAPS, please; NO ALUMINUM PULLTABS, METAL BEER CAPS OR METAL JAR LIDS. These
items devalue the plastic for recycling. Sorting these items out take
up valuable time and is tedious. So please avoid putting them in
the box. You can use a plastic bag or other container for your
donated caps.
For more information, please go to: www.capsoflove.com. You
will find a complete description of how and what they do with
these plastic bottle caps. Thank you in advance for your help.

A
Message
From
Fr.
Manny
Dear St. Francis family,
We celebrate this weekend the Solemnity
of the Ascension of the Lord Jesus into Heaven
which is the 2nd Glorious Mystery of the Holy
Rosary, the Risen Lord was lifted up on high to
be seated at the right hand of the Father. He
completed His earthly mission, (Mk 16:15-20),
but challenged His disciples to continue what
He started as His mission –“Go to the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.”
Jesus teaches us to ascend, to rise above our personal
agenda to carry out His mandate. Any disciple or follower
of the Lord may not carry out His mission if he/she is
weighed down by his/her burdens in life.
As baptized and professing to be Christians, St. Paul in
his letter to the Ephesians (Eph 4:1-13), urges us to live in a
manner worthy of our call we received. Grace was given to
each of us according to the mission of Christ’s gift.
“And he gave some as apostles, others as prophets,
others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers, to
equip the holy ones for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ.” (Eph 4:11-12)
May our Good Lord guide us His Church to respond
continuously to the call of the Church for the new evangelization in so many ways we can be part of the challenges of
this present generation. God bless us all!
Yours in the ministry,
Fr. Manny
Padre Manny

A Call for Volunteers:
The Religious Education Program is dependent upon dedicated
and caring volunteers to continue serving the young people of
our parish. Many volunteers are also parents with children in
our program. The most important requirement is a desire to
pass on the knowledge and love of our Catholic faith upon
which students can build and strengthen their relationship with
God. There are many course offerings in our diocese to empower everyone to pass on their faith to the next generation.
All people who wish to work with children and/or vulnerable
adults must comply with the Safe Environment policy of the
Diocese of Dallas. Volunteers must complete a screening form
and criminal background check. Screening forms may be completed online at http://dallas.setanet.org/screening.php or
through
a
direct
link
on
our
website,
www.stfrancislancaster.org. All RE classes for children are
offered in English as most of the children in the RE program
are fluent in English. Volunteers should be able to teach in
English. Bilingual materials are available in all the books used
in the RE program. If you are interested in beginning or returning as a teacher or aid in our RE classes, please contact Sherry
Granello at 972-227-0770 or [email protected].
The Feast of Corpus Christi: The Feast of Corpus Christi is
a Latin Rite liturgical solemnity celebrating the tradition
and belief in the body and blood of Jesus Christ, and his
Real Presence in the Eucharist. The Diocese of Dallas Vocations Office invites all to the Vigil of the Feast of Corpus
Christi on June 6th, at 5:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic
Church, 3811 Oak Lawn Avenue, Dallas. Mass will be followed by a Eucharistic Procession to Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral for a Holy Hour of prayer. Adoration with
music led by Curtis Stephen will be from 8:30-9:30 p.m.
Join us in walking with our Lord to the Cathedral.
