STATIONS OF THE CROSS FRIDAYS DURING LENT FOLLOWING BENEDICTION AT 4:15 PM TRIORAE SERVICE On the Friday before Palm Sunday, Friday, March 27th, at Our Lady Star of the Sea, there will be a commemoration of the three hours Jesus hung on the cross on Calvary. The service will begin at 12 noon. Father Andy Marinak will conduct the meditations. This service is a super way to get the full benefits of our preparation for Holy Week. Welcome the Visiting Madonna - While we are encouraged to embrace Jesus’ cross, perhaps the next best thing we can do as the faithful is to turn to the Blessed Mother for guidance…”Blessed Mother, please help me.” As human beings, we can’t do everything. But the Blessed Mother can go to her Son Jesus and do wonders. The Knights of Columbus are offering intimate prayer devotions in your own homes to all parishioners so that every family may experience visitation for one week from our Visiting Madonna. Families will begin to experience a sense of peace, quiet and reflection while saying the Rosary as a family with Our Lady. The family that prays together stays together. If you are interested in participating in welcoming the Visiting Madonna, please call Sam Konrad at (843) 399-7003 or email him at [email protected]. This week, The Visiting Madonna will be presented to Jim & Jerilyn Mulhern at the 10:00 AM Mass. GRAND STRAND CITIZENS FOR LIFE TO MARCH IN ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE Grand Strand Citizens for Life will again participate in the North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 14th. Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church CHRISTIAN FORMATION HOLYTRINITYCATHOLICSCHOOL A Ministry of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish LEGISLATIVE RECEPTION On Monday, March 9th, at 3:00pm, there will be a Legislative Reception in the Holy Trinity Catholic School Library. In June of 2014 the legislature passed a “School Choice” proviso that applies directly to children with exceptional needs and their families. This proviso allowed the formation of 501c3 corporations to act as scholarship granting organizations to support exceptional needs students in non-public schools. To address this proviso, the Diocese of Charleston formed its own St. Thomas Aquinas Scholarship Funding Organization which grants scholarships to exceptional needs students who are attending Catholic elementary and secondary schools. Holy Trinity Catholic School has two students who receive scholarships from the St. Thomas Aquinas Scholarship Granting Organization. Each school having students who receive these scholarships will have a reception for our area legislators to thank them for their support of this proviso and to let them know how well the program is going. If you would like to attend this reception, please know that you are very welcome to join us on Monday, March 9th. BOOK FAIR Holy Trinity Catholic School will hold a book fair in the school library beginning on Tuesday, March 10th, from 10:00am to 3:00pm. There will be a variety of different age-appropriate books to choose from. If you would like to purchase books, please come to the school during the hours listed above. The Fair will end on Friday, March 13th. You will be very pleased with books available. ANNUAL FUND So far, the response to Holy Trinity Catholic School’s Annual Fund appeal has been good but more donations are needed to complete the projects slated to be done this summer. The focus for the summer will be the enlargement of the playground, refurbishment or replacement of the basketball court and the addition of a picnic area for the students. Work will also begin on construction of a regulation size soccer field. If you have already given to the appeal, thank you so much. If you have not yet contributed but would like to do so, simply send your contribution to Holy Trinity Catholic School and be sure that it is labeled Annual Fund. Cordialmente; Padre Orlando. EVANGELIZACION CATEQUESIS PARA ADULTOS (R.I.C.A.)
