4º Domingo de Pascua 4th Sunday of Easter Reflexión Del Párroco Pastor’s Reflection Querida familia de Santo Rosario Hoy día es el Día Mundial de la Oración para las Vocaciones. Este día es para recordar dos cosas. Primero, que Dios nos llama a servirle a Él y a su comunidad en maneras particulares. Segundo, que no encontraremos la voluntad de Dios en un vacío o en privado. Nos necesitamos unos a otros para discernir como vivir según el corazón de Dios. Cuando hacemos lo mejor para vivir nuestra vida según el corazón de Dios, llegamos a ser una comunidad o una familia que da vida, que es acogedora, que manifiesta la riqueza y la diversidad de Dios mismo. Mi historia personal de vocación incluye varias llamadas, hasta que descubrí la llamada que pareció la correcta. La llamada que me dio vida verdadera. Esta llamada no ocurrió en un cuarto cerrado sino por medio de un proceso de escuchar. Escuché a la voz interior, también reflexioné sobre el camino que pisé hasta ese momento. No había música angélica, ni visiones magníficas, solo una convicción y afirmación por parte de mis amigos y parientes que resonó con la voz interior. Una vocación, sea a la vida religiosa o al matrimonio, o a la vida de soltera comprometida no es tanto algo que hacemos, sino algo que somos. Hoy es un día de oración para todas las vocaciones, pero no olvidemos las vocaciones a la vida religiosa y al sacerdocio. El domingo pasado celebramos con una fiesta muy bella, los 50 años de vida dominicana de nuestra Hna. Margarita. También, presente en esa celebración, tuvimos la presencia de seis novicios dominicos, discerniendo su vocación religiosa. Esas vocaciones son vocaciones contraculturales que nos llaman a un compromiso que la sociedad, muchas veces, no acepta o no entiende. Como católicos, tenemos que alentar a nuestros jóvenes (y a nosotros mismos) aceptar el desafío de vivir como Cristo, aunque la cultura (o a veces la familia) no nos apoyan. Recemos por nosotros y por nuestros feligreses para que sigamos el corazón de Dios, y escuchemos la voz que nos llama a la vida más profunda y rica en el Cuerpo de Cristo. Con cariño, P. Jaime Dear Family of Holy Rosary, Today is the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. This special day reminds us of two important things. First, we are indeed called in special ways to serve God and our community. Second, that we do not find God’s will for our lives in a vacuum: we need one another to help us discern how we are meant to live according to God’s heart. When we are all doing our best to live our lives according to God’s heart, we move toward becoming a community or family that is lifegiving, that others feel welcome to join, that is marked by the richness and diversity that is God. My own personal story includes several perceived callings, until at last I stumbled (literally) into the one that seemed right, that brought life, that challenged me. This didn’t happen by locking myself in a room to pray. It happened as I listened to others, as I listened to the voice within, and as I reflected back on the path that I had been traveling. Sorry, there weren’t any mystical voices from the clouds or harp music (well, not much anyway)! A vocation, be it to married life, single life, religious life or priesthood, is not fitting oneself into a set of clothes and seeing how one looks. It is not something you do as much as a way of being. Today is a day of prayer for all vocations, but let us not forget the vocations of religious life and priesthood. Last weekend we had a marvelous celebration of the religious vocation of Sr. Margaret celebrating 50 years of religious life. Coincidentally, our six young novices who are beginning their discernment of religious life were here too. These callings do not fit into the powerful cultural norms around which we are surrounded. It takes a community to call certain people forth to serve and live in a countercultural way. Let us pray for ourselves and our parishioners to follow God’s heart, and listen to the voice that calls us to deeper and richer life. Fr.
