First, it needs to be consistent in style. There are frequent shifts in pronouns and tenses. A more uniform “voice” is needed. The dissertation also needs to be written more tightly, making the logical connections as well as transitions in discussion of ideas clearer. Second, the questions and the rough outline of the argument need to be spelled out clearly in the first chapter to alert the reader on what to expect in succeeding chapters. Third, the title of the introductory chapter does not work and needs to be revised. Finally, the conclusion needs to be revised entirely and extensively. It needs to provide a succinct summary of the entire thesis to highlight the major points the thesis makes as important findings. We also have serious doubts about the usefulness of the policy suggestions and suggest either ditching it entirely or dwelling more on policy implications of some of the findings. 本論文は、全体として、本学の博士にふさわしい内容の論文であると全委員が評価し、上に示した点についてしかるべく修正を施した上で、Ph.D. in International Relations の学位を授与すべきであるとの判断で一致した。論文修正後の確認措置としては、主査に一任することとし、これに遵い、修正済論文は主査が承認の上、論文最終版として提出された。
