Die Menschen in diesem einst provisorisch aufgeschlagenen Camp sind täglich mit den Aggressionen und Übergriffen der Nachbarn konfrontiert, die Siedlung ständig von der Zwangsräumung bedroht. Das taubstumme Mädchen hat es nicht leicht, für die anderen ist sie »die Dumme«. Doch Denisa weiß sich zu helfen. Ihre Überlebensstrategie: Der Tanz! Eine gefundene Schachtel mit Bollywoodfilmen eröffnet ihr eine glamouröse, magische Welt, über die sie sich ausdrücken kann. Sie tanzt für die Siedlung, und die Siedlung tanzt mit. Die Königin der Stille ist ein ungewöhnlicher Dokumentarfilm, ein Experiment zwischen Fiktion und Realität. Agnieszka Zwiefka nähert sich dem alltäglichen Überlebenskampf durch die Augen eines fantasievollen und starken Kindes mit den formalen Mitteln eines Bollywoodfilms. Dabei begleitet Zwiefka das Mädchen auch in besonderen Stationen ihres Lebens – etwa wenn sie die Möglichkeit bekommt, zum ersten Mal in ihrem Leben zu hören. Und wenn sie entscheidet, nicht hören zu wollen und Königin in ihrer Welt der Stille zu bleiben. Biografie Mehr als zwölf Jahre hat Agnieszka Zwiefka für den polnischen TV-Sender TVP als Autorin zahlreicher preisgekrönter Fernsehdokumentationen gearbeitet. 2007 promovierte sie im Bereich Neue Medien und unterrichtet seitdem Fernsehjournalismus und Interactive Films mit dem Schwerpunkt Multimedia Storytelling an der Universität Breslau. 2010 gründete sie ihre Produktionsfirma Chilli Productions, mit der sie weiterhin Fernsehformate entwickelt. Ihr letzter Film Albert Cinema wurde im Rahmen der Docu Talents of the East auf dem Karlovy Vary Film Festival präsentiert. The residents of what was supposed to be only a temporary camp are exposed to aggressive attacks from neighbours on a daily basis and face the constant threat of eviction. Life’s not easy for the deaf and dumb girl, who is referred to by the others as the »stupid one«. But Denisa knows how to fend for herself. Her strategy for survival is to dance! A box of Bollywood films she finds introduces her to a glamorous, magical world through which she can express herself. She dances for the community, and the community dances with her. The Queen of Silence is an unusual documentary, an experiment that blends fiction with reality. Agnieszka Zwiefka introduces viewers to the daily struggle for survival through the eyes of an imaginative and strong child using the formal means of a Bollywood film. Zwiefka films the girl in special situations in her life – for example, when she’s offered the chance to hear for the first time. And when she decides she doesn’t want to hear but to remain the queen in her world of silence. Biography Agnieszka Zwiefka worked for the Polish TV channel TVP for more than twelve years, writing numerous award-winning television documentaries. In 2007, she received a doctorate in the field of new media and since then has taught the subjects of television journalism and interactive film with a focus on multimedia storytelling at the University of Breslau. In 2010, she founded her production company Chilli Productions with which she continues to develop television formats. Her most recent film Albert Cinema was presented in the Docu Talents of the East series at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
