Americans but I thought it was appropriate especially regarding the subject matter of the book.
No stars could be seen, of course, because of the city lights. But there was a pretty
moon.
This one probably dropped a star as I really wanted some more one on one time for Barrie and
Gray... where was it?
Barrie Travis is stuck at a low-budget independent television station struggling to
survive among the giant networks. Then, suddenly, she receives an invitation from First
Lady Vanessa Merritt for an off-the-record conversation. Barrie's reporter's instincts are
instantly aroused. During a furtive, emotionally charged meeting, Barrie sees that the
President's beautiful wife is stunned by grief after the crib death of her infant son.>
Vanessa's motive for meeting Barrie seems to be to share her heartache with another
woman. What Barrie overlooks in her excitement at hearing the confidences of the First
Lady are the questions she should be asking: Why would Vanessa Merritt call her? And
why would the President's wife hint to an unknown reporter that her child may have been
murdered? Blind to everything but getting her exclusive, Barrie is determined to
investigate the death of the President's child. But she soon realizes that getting her story
will test her ethics and her patriotism. Would she expose information that could topple
the presidency?
This one left me seconding guessing to the end again - OK, I had an inkling of who might be the
bad guy.... but still, SB can spin a tale and keep you captivated right until the final line.
She confronts this problem when she tracks down Gray Bondurant, a former
presidential aide and war hero who shunned the politics of Washington in favor of life on
a remote Wyoming ranch. And when they both begin to follow a trail of lies and intrigue
right to the White House door, Barrie's exclusive puts at least three people on the firing
line: the First Lady, Gray, and herself - as crimes and ambitions combine to endanger
their lives and the future of the nation.

blocked her ideas to produce feature stories and instead give her menial 'junk' to report. She
just needs one big break. Then, the First Lady of the United States, Vanessa Merritt, called to
meet Barrie not long after Vanessa lost her infant son to SIDS. But the meeting was more than
'unsettling' to Barrie. She knows she must delve further and get more facts and try to speak with
Vanessa again. Barrie meets up with Gray Bondurant who was once the right hand man to the
President of the U.S., David Merritt, and knows things about the White House and it's staff. With
the help of Barrie's dearest friend, Daily, they begin to uncover what could be the most
scandalous and horrific events ever to come out of the White House itself.
Just a riveting, nail biting story that once again has me put Sandra Brown at the top of my list of
most amazing authors ever!
Lia Rock lantz: Very good read. Only a couple sex scenes for those of you want to know. Really
didn't notice too much foul language. I thought I had it all figured out but the ending threw me for

Kermit: Das Lesen fiel mir von Anfang an leicht. Die Autorin hat eine paintings zu schreiben, die
ich als unheimlich angenehm empfinde. Ich liebe Bücher mit ausgefallenem oder
anspruchsvollem Schreibstil, bei denen viel zwischen den Zeilen mitschwingt. Aber manchmal
möchte ich mir den vollen Lesespaß nicht erst erarbeiten müssen, sondern mich einfach nur
treiben lassen und trotzdem intestine unterhalten werden. Genau das bietet Sandra Brown. Sie
schreibt sehr flüssig und anschaulich und scheint dabei ein natürliches expertise für das richtige
Maß an info und Beschreibungen zu haben. Umgebung, Charaktere und Gefühle werden nicht
nur umrissen, sondern sind klar und greifbar- oder wirken zumindest so. Dadurch hat mir zwar
manchmal eine gewisse Würze gefehlt, aber das Kopfkino läuft praktisch von alleine mit. Der
Stil ist Schema F auf hohem Niveau und hat mich zwar nicht völlig mitgerissen, aber auf alle
Fälle kurzweilig durch die Geschichte geführt.Bei den Charakteren hat gerade Barrie sich Seite
für Seite meine Sympathien erarbeitet, obwohl es für uns beide anfangs gar nicht intestine
ausgesehen hat. Ich ziehe eigentlich toughe Protagonistinnen vor und hatte mich auf eine
rasende Reporterin gefreut, die es faustdick hinter den Ohren hat. Den langen Arm des Weißen
Haus mischt sie dann auch ordentlich auf, allerdings sind das oft eher ungewollte Folgen von
ausgeprägtem Blondchen/Blödchen-Verhalten. Besonders helle ist die gute Barrie nämlich
nicht, dafür aber umso sturköpfiger und enorm von sich und ihrem Riecher überzeugt. Klingt
nervig? struggle es anfangs auch. Aber als dann grey Bondurant auf der Bildfläche auftaucht,
hat das zwei ganz fantastische Vorteile. Zum einen knurrt er bedrohlich genug, um Barries
herzlich naive artwork gleich viel sympathischer erscheinen zu lassen und zum anderen zeigt
sich gerade in seinem ironischen und selbst ernannt überlegenen Verhalten ihr gegenüber,
dass Barrie genau so sein soll, wie sie ist: etwas übereifrig, aber mit dem Herz am rechten
Fleck. Die beiden ergänzen sich intestine und wo sie mich einzeln vermutlich in den Wahnsinn
getrieben hätten, da hat die Kombination überraschend intestine funktioniert. Auch die
Nebencharaktere passen intestine ins "Ich bin ein Stereotyp und stolz darauf"-Ensemble. Sie
haben gerade genügend kleinere und größere Macken, um zu unterhalten, aber nicht von
Barrie und ihrer tale abzulenken. Insgesamt bieten die Charaktere additionally nicht all zu viel
Tiefgang, aber einen passablen Unterhaltungsfaktor.Die Handlung hätte ehrlich gesagt
klischeehafter gar nicht beginnen können. Da ist die naive Reporterin, die von der First woman
persönlich auf die tale ihres Lebens angesetzt wird und sich dann offenbar nicht nur einen
Mann-aus-Stahl-Ex-Agenten angeln, sondern ganz nebenbei auch noch - wie könnte es anders
sein - eine riesige Verschwörung aufdecken will. Aber der erste Eindruck täuscht und je mehr
Mitspieler ihren Hut in den Ring werfen, desto höher wird der Einsatz und mit einem Mal fällt es
nicht nur Barrie schwer, zwischen Freund und Feind zu unterscheiden. Die tale ist plötzlich
voller rasanter Wendungen, teilweise überraschend und quickly immer unterhaltsam. Dabei
glaubt guy sich als Leser lange in der komfortablen Situation, allen in die Karten schauen zu
können. Von wegen... "Blindes Vertrauen" magazine kein bis ins letzte element durchdachter,
hoch komplexer Ladythriller sein und die eine oder andere Szene hätte guy auch sicher
kreativer gestalten können. Aber lasst euch nicht täuschen, denn naiv ist diese Geschichte
nicht. Frau Brown kann bluffen und das mit doppeltem und dreifachem Boden. Gefehlt hat mir
eigentlich nur mehr Knistern und mehr Prickeln, einfach mehr zwischen Barrie und Bondurant.
Sie geben kein schlechtes Pärchen ab, aber bei Sandra Brown sollten mich Szenen mit den
beiden alles Andere vergessen lassen. Da sollte einfach kein Platz mehr sein für Grübeleien
über die neusten Ereignisse.Fazit:Gute Unterhaltung, die mit einer sympathisch unbedarften
Protagonistin und jeder Menge Bluffs punktet.
