Seitdem realisiere ich großflächige Floor-Kunstwerke von oft mehreren hundert Quadratmetern rund um den Globus – zum Beispiel in Hotels, Büros oder Einkaufszentren. "FloorART" nennt sich die von mir entwickelte Technik der Bodengestaltung, bei der ich meine Kunst mit der Gießkanne auf den Boden male. Jeanet Hönig the Artist After studying design and art in Paris and Tokyo, I began putting my artistic talents to work in 1994 by developing techniques for artistic floorings. Since then I have been implementing large-scale floor artworks which often stretch over several hundred square metres and can be found in hotels, offices and shopping centres around the world. "FloorART" is the term for the design technique which I have created and which I bring to life by painting floors with a watering-can. Ideas produce spatial concepts which create meetings between people. www.jeanet-honig.com ** Connecting Jeanet Hönig Neben der Kunst am Boden arbeite ich seit je her klassisch auf Leinwand: Hier forme ich ebenfalls mit PU auf neun aneinandergelegten Leinwänden von je einem Quadratmeter mit der Gießkanne mein Bild. Im Resultat ist jedes Einzelbild für sich genauso stimmig wie das Gesamtbild: Es ist immer noch Teil eines Ganzen, dessen Elemente zwar bei verschiedenen Besitzern verteilt wurden, die aber dennoch unsichtbar miteinander verbunden sind. PU auf Leinwand_100 x 100 cm www.jeanet-honig.com As well as floor art, I have always worked on the more traditional medium of canvases, and also use PU here as a raw material for large-scale works which generally comprise nine canvases that are each one metre squared in size, which I again design using a watering can. The result is that each individual image is as coherent as the overall creation but it is very much part of a whole whose elements are separated among various different owners whilst nevertheless having an invisible connection. PU on canvas_50 x 50 cm Mein Stilmerkmal – Elemente aus Kreisen und Linien Unverwechselbares Stilmerkmal meiner Kunst sind die immer wiederkehrenden Elemente aus Kreisen und Linien. Neben Analogien zur Quantenphysik und zum Buddhismus spiegelt sich hier meine persönliche Lebenshaltung wider: Es gibt keinen Anfang und kein Ende, alles ist miteinander verbunden. Ich male abstrakt, um den Menschen einen anderen – nicht gegenständlichen – Blick auf die Welt und damit auf die Realität zu ermöglichen. PU auf Leinwand_100 x 100 cm My stylistic features – recurrent elements of circles and lines The most significant stylistic feature of my art is the recurrent elements of circles and lines. My style recalls both quantum physics and Buddhism whilst also reflecting my personal attitude to life, in that there is no beginning and no end – everything is intertwined. My painting is abstract, in order to give people a different – as opposed to a concrete – take on the world as well as on reality. Farben – kräftig, kontrastreich und klar Klar und minimalistisch ist mein Umgang mit Farben: Jede Farbe steht für sich und wird nicht mit einer anderen gemischt. So kann sich jede Farbe eigenveranwortlich selbst verwirklichen. Um die Wechselwirkung und das Verhältnis vom Großen zum Kleinen zu zeigen, verwende ich eine Farbe für eine große Fläche und eine weitere Farbe für die Linien. Die Wirkung einer Farbe hängt von ihrer Leuchtkraft und ihrer Flächengröße ab, ein Farbeindruck ergibt sich durch den Kontrast zwischen den Farbtönen. Each colour stands alone and is not mixed with others, meaning that each one can materialise of its own accord. In order to illustrate the interplay and the relationship between large and small, I use one colour for the large surface and another for the lines. A colour’s effect depends on its luminosity and the size of the surface it is on, while the impression it creates comes about via the contrast between the shades. Es kann sehr vielfältig eingesetzt werden und hat längst unseren Alltag in Form unzähliger Produkte erobert. PU fordert eine ganz präzise, genaue Vorbereitung: Ich kann nicht einfach einen Eimer aufmachen und loslegen. In verschiedenen Arbeitsschritten wird zum Beispiel erst die Menge mit der Waage abgewogen, dazu passend die zweite Komponente hinzugefügt und mit einem Gerät gut gemischt. Die fertige Mischung muss ich innerhalb von 40 Minuten verarbeiten. Das setzt eine gute Planung voraus und erfordert hohe Konzentration und Präzision. www.jeanet-honig.com PU – contemporary material To create my art I use polyurethane (PU) which is a most contemporary of materials. It is modern, elastic and resistant, can be implemented in a whole host of different ways and has long featured in our daily lives in the form of countless different products. PU requires a very precise and exact method of preparation – I cannot simply open up a can and get started. Many different steps are necessary: for example first weighing the quantities, then adding two further components correctly and mixing them together using a tool. Once the mixture is ready, I only have 40 minutes in which to work on it. The process must be planned in advance and requires significant levels of concentration and accuracy.
