TODAY FOR YOU
ARIES
What ails you now can be eliminated if you're willing to stand up
and say exactly what needs to be
said, Aries. Going with the flow may be an easy
route to follow, but it might not always take you
down a path that leads to the fulfillment of your
dreams.
Sesa Sterlite felicitates
weightlifter Dora Kondagiri
It takes two to tango, Taurus.
Remember that life isn't a oneway street. There needs to be a
bit of give and take if you expect others to treat
you the way you want to be treated. Don't let
people take control when it comes to taking
charge of your own life.
GEMINI
CANCER
Intense emotions are apt to dominate the scene today, Cancer. Don't
do anything halfway. It's time to
give it your all or nothing. You have the power to cut
to the heart of the issue. Don't hesitate. If you meet
opposition, stay strong. There's a valuable lesson to
be learned.
LEO
There's an overwhelming intensity about the day that might
make it difficult for you to maintain the peace, Leo. Strong opinions and courageous emotions are clashing in a climactic fashion. You might find yourself in the middle of conflicting forces if you aren't careful.
VIRGO
You may feel extra self-confident
today, Virgo, making you more
able to say and do the things you
might normally keep inside. Be warned, however,
that you're apt to run into some powerful, unexpected opposition.
LIBRA
You might find that others' strong
opinions dictate today's actions,
Libra. The atmosphere is quite
intense, so you might want to lay low and let others have their way. Don't try to put up a fight.
Unexpected opposition may come out of nowhere
and take control.
SCORPIO
Create your own reality, Scorpio. It
could be that you have the puppet
strings in your hands, but you're too
afraid to use them. Don't shy away from responsibility.
Take your time and don't lose sight of your goals. The
stakes are extra high today, and you will find that the
slightest movement is magnified several times over. Be
careful how you use your words.
SAGITTARIUS
Things that you thought were
obvious may not seem quite as
clear as you'd like them to be,
Sagittarius. Be aware that there may be some
intense opposition to your plans. Take care of
other people and their emotions.
CAPRICORN
There's a need for decisive action
today, Aquarius, and you're the one
fit for the job. Strong wills and
forceful opinions will win out. Others aren't likely to
be easily manipulated. Everyone has a voice and
they won't be afraid to use it.
PISCES
There may be tension and opposition today, Pisces, so be prepared. It could seem like everyone wants to rattle your cage. Stand strong.
There are forceful opinions crying out to be
heard. The more stubborn you are, the harder it
will be for important information to flow freely.

KENDRAPARA: In a crackdown, forest personnel took
into custody three persons on charges of smuggling
out live mud crabs from Bhitarkanika National park
waterbodies in Kendrapara district. Acting on a tip-off,
wildlife protection squad of the department made a
seizure of two quintals of live crabs packed in sacks
from a Kolkata bound bus at Nalitapatia village near
the national park boundary, forest officials said today.
The arrested persons - Babuli Mallick the driver,
Sanjaya Kumar Das the helper of the bus and the crab
supplier Ajambila Das - were booked under the provisions of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and remanded to
judicial custody after being arrested yesterday, they
said. The mud crabs recovered from the arrested
offenders were later released into the water bodies of
Bhitarkanika, said DFO, Bhitarkanika Mangrove
(wildlife) Division, Kedar Kumar Swain. "We had
received definite information about illegal trading and

to Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata and other areas," he
said. PTI
Ghadai demands hike in
minimum wage
JAJPUR: Former finance
minister Prafulla
Chandra Ghadai today
pleaded for fixing the
minimum wage to Rs 300
a day in the state from
the existing Rs 164.
Ghadai told PBD that
many states in the country have raised the minimum wage to above Rs
200 per day.
“Haryana has raised the minimum wage to Rs 236,
the highest in the country. Similarly, it is Rs 222 in
Andaman, Rs 212 in Kerala and Rs 200 in Punjab.
However, the State government has not yet raised
the minimum wage, Ghadai said. He said, in the past
one year, prices of essential commodities have gone
up manifold. When the wage earners have started getting Rs 250 in villages, why should they work for Rs
164 fixed by the State government? he asked. Citing
the Raghuram Rajan Committee and Planning
Commission reports, Ghadai said a majority of the
people in State lived the below poverty line (BPL) category and they needed to be brought above the BPL
by enhanced economic support. He maintained that
the migration of labourers problem, which has often
brought disrepute to the State, could be also checked
to a great extent if the wages were hiked.
Other people may tend to snap
under the emotional pressure of
the day, Capricorn, but you're well
suited to soar through with flying colors. You're
ruled by your emotions and you have no problem
navigating rough waters. Other people may look to
you for strength and support.

AT least 22 persons have been affected by jaundice in coastal Kendrapara
district, officials said today.
Confirmed and unconfirmed
cases of jaundice have been reported
in Malliksahi village under Kansara
gram panchayat on the outskirts of
Kendrapara district headquarters.
At least 14 cases are symptomatically confirmed as jaundice while
seven others are suspected to be
afflicted, said health department
officials.
Medical teams have been
rushed to the village and have taken
a stock of the situation, said
Additional District Medical Officer,
MA Beig.
The blood samples of the affected
villagers have been sent to microbiology department of SCB Medical
College and Hospital, Cuttack. The
samples of drinking water drawn
have been dispatched to pathology
and bacteriology departments of the
hospital, he said.
The village has a population of
400. However, there is only one
deep-dug tube well to meet with
drinking water requirement of the
said villagers.
Contaminated
drinking water led to the outbreak.
Sources of drinking water are being
disinfected, the health officials said.
A three-member Central health
team visited Sambalpur after jaundice
outbreak hit the city claiming at least
17 lives and infecting 1921 persons.
Several leakages in main drinking water pipelines at Jeypore in
Koraput district have triggered fear
of outbreak of diseases.
