FOURTH WEEK OF ADVENT: WREATH PRAYER
Jesus, your mother, Mary, is “blessed among women.” We are
happy that she said “Yes!” to being your mother. We

hearts. Amen.

ST. EMILE PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY
St. Emile Parish has a monthly Youth ministered Mass, in which the youth
are the ones serving in the different ministries as Greeters, Collection
ministers (Ushers), Gift Bearers and Altar Servers. This is a great way to
serve your parish during the Mass and meet other young people from the
Catholic Community. This mass usually occurs at 11:00 a.m. on the
1st Sunday of the month.
Please pick up and fill out the form you will find at the entrance of the
church building and then either hand it in to the parish office, or drop it
into the collection.

4th Sunday of Advent
ATTENTION: Parents whose children are
eligible for Confirmation and
First Communion
Here at St. Emile Parish, we will be celebrating the
sacrament of Confirmation and First Communion on
June 12, 2015 in the evening. Archdiocesan policy is
that the sacraments must be celebrated within the
context of the parish. Parents and guardians prepare
the candidates at home with support from our parish
team.
At St. Emile, children grade two and above, who
have had the opportunity to celebrate First
Reconciliation, are eligible for the celebration of
these sacraments. The candidates need to be
practicing members of St. Emile Parish. If a
candidate is from another parish and wishes to
celebrate with St. Emile’s candidates, that person is
most welcome. A letter of permission from the
candidate’s pastor, however, will be necessary.
During the period of preparation, there will be a
series of meetings, one each month, at St. Emile
chapel in the parish centre. To begin the process, a
parent only meeting will take place in the chapel of
St. Emile parish on Wednesday, January 14,
2015 at 6:30 p.m. This meeting will focus upon
parents and guardians; any child may be present but
may find this particular session boring.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
How does Father Carl schedule the
celebration of Baptism? At this point
in time, Father Carl tries to celebrate
baptism one weekend per month. The date is selected
according to the first request for that particular
month. All others who call afterwards for that month
are assigned to that weekend. This is the theory.
Unfortunately, it does not always work that way
because many families have already scheduled with
relatives before talking with Father Carl.
To avoid difficulty and to ensure the best quality
celebration that we are capable of, please contact Father
Carl about a date for baptism before you schedule
family travel arrangements.

ARCHBISHOP’S NEW YEARS
RECEPTION FOR LAITY
Sunday, January 4, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the
St. Boniface Cathedral Parish Hall. All are welcome
to come and greet the Archbishop and receive his
New Years blessing.
CWL Thought: Christ the Lord is born today and
earth echoes songs of angel choirs and joyful praise.
Alleluia
Sunday Offering Envelopes for 2015
Envelopes have been prepared and set out for you to
use for your Sunday financial offerings in 2015. The
advantage of using envelopes is that we are able to
keep track of your financial offerings to the parish.
This permits us to issue you an income tax receipt
after the end of the year.
Remember that we have only volunteers
in the parish office.
Our envelope
preparation person looks over the records
of donations. If there has been no activity with the
envelopes since May or June, the assumption is that
either the household concerned no longer wishes to
use envelopes or has moved away. Errors do happen,
however. If you were missed in the issuing of
envelopes and wish to avail yourself to this service,
please contact the parish office on either Tuesday
morning or Thursday morning, and let our
preparation person know your desire.
MINISTRY FOR THE SICK
AND SHUT-INS
St. Emile has a Pastoral Ministry for the sick, shutins, elderly and alone of our parish. If you would
enjoy a visit or if you know of someone who does,
please call and we will try to meet your needs
efficiently and respectfully.
Can you find a few extra minutes in
your life to help our Ministry?
Do you have some time to bring communion to a
Senior Citizen home or private home?
Do you have just a bit of time to visit awhile with
a lonely or ill parishioner? All it takes is a short drive
in your car and your smile to bring joy to a fellow
parishioner who is unable to leave home. Please
call: Geraldine Wilkinson at 204-256-7228 or
Laura Dacquay at 204-256-8483.

HOMAGE TO MANITOBA’S
CATHOLIC WOMEN RELIGIOUS
Did you know that nearly 50 Catholic
Women Religious congregations have
been of service to Manitobans since 1844?
Do you have a wonderful testimonial to
share about a sister or congregation
that you know?
In 2015-2016 the
Catholic Health Association of Manitoba is
leading a project entitled ‘Legacy of Care,
Courage and Compassion’ to render
homage, commemorate and celebrate
these humble and courageous pioneer
women. Manitoba’s communities have
been blessed by the work accomplished by
the devoted Catholic women religious.
While surmounting numerous obstacles
and challenges to respond to the needs of
the oppressed, poor, sick, underprivileged,
and uneducated, the Sisters have
contributed greatly to the foundation of
Manitoba’s health, education, and social
service systems, as well as played an
integral role in our parishes and
communities. Please refer to the poster
located in the nave for more information.
PRAYER REQUEST
Prayers are always needed for all our
parishioners suffering from illness,
problems, or challenging times.

Sunday, 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.). All who are able and
interested are encouraged to connect with current lectors and
extra-ordinary ministers of the Eucharist or contact Zorina at
204-781-1065 or [email protected] to have questions
answered or to join the team.
We are also looking for people who are able and interested
in participating in the Liturgical Ministry as Ushers and
Greeters. Please do not hesitate to contact any of the

PARISH HALL USE AND RENTAL
Mrs. Leonie Olcen, who has been very generously and capably
co-ordinating our facility use for the past three years, has found it
necessary to resign from this important volunteer responsibility.
Consequently, we are in need of someone else
to step forward and take on this important
service to our parish. The position is called
FACILITY CO-ORDINATOR . It consists of three
parts: being the contact/scheduling person for use of various
rooms and the hall for parish meetings and functions; being the
point/contact person for use of the parish hall for funeral
luncheons; co-ordinating hall rentals. If you realize you are being
called to this important volunteer service and are able and willing
to say “yes”, please contact the Finance Committee Chairperson,
RoseMarie Coulture, at the telephone number or e-mail address
recorded on the front page of this bulletin. Perhaps you want to
do some of the job, and not hall rental co-ordinator, which would
probably be fine. It would simply mean that we no longer rent out
the hall unless we have a separate person for that.
Until we have someone to take on this important service, we are
unable to make the hall available for funeral luncheons or rentals.
New Parishioners If you are new to the parish, Welcome! If you
wish to become a regular member of our parish family you will find a
registration form located at the church entrance. Complete the
registration form and return it to the parish office or you may place it in
the collection basket.
