Where Great Things Happen! 2013 Annual Report Managing Director Message I was recently reminded by my daughter that through the centuries, music has been a universal language understood around the world and right here in Vermont our camp song is no different. I have included the song on the back of this report because I truly feel that the message is simple and paints a picture of what camp is all about. The words that ring true with me are “Through rain or shine we’ll have an awesome time”. Our kids truly deserve to have an awesome time and through the generous support of our donors and the tireless efforts of our volunteers, you make it possible for us to provide a fantastic program filled with positive memories that will last a lifetime. Camp! History Camp Exclamation Point, Inc. (CAMP!) is a Vermont-based non-profit organization that gives over 110 children from rural Vermont communities a week-long residential summer camp experience. Many of our campers’ families are involved with the agriculture, dairy or logging industries within the state and often relocate to follow seasonal work. CAMP! was founded in 1991, when the Vermont Migrant Education Program discontinued the original camp. Several staff members were committed however, in providing continuity for the children with whom they had been working with and created CAMP! as a way to meet that need. Staff recognized that the summer experience made an important difference in these children’s lives and provided them with opportunities otherwise inaccessible to them and their families. In addition, we also offer older campers a Teen Leadership Program (TLP), providing the opportunity to develop teamwork and leadership skills, while building their confidence and self-esteem.
