Note from Director
Looking back at the 2014 camping season I can’t help
but praise God for the blessings he poured out here.
We saw a 4% increase in camper registrations, 70 commitments by campers to follow Jesus, 45 of which were
first time commitments! Our summer programs ran
very smoothly, and God granted us safety on all sides.
Our staff team was phenomenal, rising to every occasion to do His work. The
summer was jam-packed full of fun, friends, and laughs, but best of all our local
mission--Shiktehawk--shined again.
We are ramping up for another great season of programs! Winter camps are
coming up, and this summer is going to bigger and better than ever. We have
nowhere to go but up! Next summer is going to be our 80th year of operation,
and with that we want to celebrate by taking camp to the next level. This coming
season we are going to see the reopening of our waterfront activities with the
completion of the dam. We have plans for a new staffing model, opportunities
for more adult volunteers to be involved in the summer months, improved program activities, and much more. Also, Family Camp is taking on a new name:
“Sequoia”, new dates, and a greatly improved program.
We want this to be a flagship season, and we know that God will be doing some
exciting stuff in the lives of our campers, staff, and volunteers. Please be in prayer that God will send the necessary people, and resources to do this work. So
please don’t be a stranger to the camp this coming season. There are activities
and ways to be involved for everyone, and the more people we have here the
merrier! This year our goal is to have every week of camp full of campers, and to
have 800 people at Shiktehawk Sunday on our 80th year. See you there on June
7, 2015!
We are welcoming a new staff member to our team for the winter months, Lindsay Briggs. She is completing her 4th year at Kingswood University and is fulfilling her internship with us. We are excited to see how God will use her in these
coming months.
Don’t forget that Shiktehawk is a year-round facility and we have everything you
need for a great winter get-a-way. If you are interested in bringing a group to
camp we can accommodate to suit your needs. We have an indoor skating rink,
great sliding hill, cozy cabins, a nice warm lodge with lots of room, snowshoeing
trails, and much more.
On a personal note, I am pleased to announce that Alicia and I have a new addition to our family. We have a new son born to us on Nov 22 and his name is Kaes
(pronounced Case). He’s fitting right in with the other 4 kiddos, and as expected
looks just the rest of them.

Just like the wheel that never stops turning,
things at camp don’t stop when snow starts to
fall! Camp Council are working full steam
ahead; looking forward to our 80th Year!! It’s
going to be a big year, from Shiktehawk Sunday and right through the summer; we are
making your favourite parts of camp better &
adding some great new things too!
We cannot stop raving about the crik, it’s going to be the place to be this summer; with a
slide & fun new toys. You will want to spend
all day there. Family camp will be 4 days of
family fun, stay tuned for how we’re going to
turn two days into four! (No fish or loaves
have been harmed in the making of this
event).
Of course we’re not only dreaming of that
summer sun, but are excited for Wintertainment, Winterrific, and to partner with the

Financial Update
Camp Needs
We praise God for our camp and the things that God is accomplishing through it. The big thing we faced this year, financially, was the Fix the Crick project. We praise God and
thank our Director Jon MacDonald and Erving Randall for
their leadership and management in the project and keeping
the costs in line. The total cost for the project to date is
$196,706.89, and to date we have raised $177,781.05 towards the expenses, so there is still a need for your giving. It
is going to be exciting to see the dam fill up this June. We are
going to have the most beautiful waterfront ever, this summer.

We thank the churches in our Association for their continued
financial support and would encourage the churches to continue their support keeping in mind that we face higher costs
each year. This year coming, we face higher minimum wage
costs.
There are many buildings that need repairs and maintenance
and we want to start addressing those soon. In the recent
past the Nurse's cabin has been replaced and Warner Hall
repaired and now we want to repair other buildings.
Thank you churches and individuals for your support of our
camp. Without you we would not be able to operate.

There is always lots to do here at Shiktehawk. With 37 buildings,
75 acres of land, and an untamed stream running through the center of it all, it takes a lot of resources, and manpower to keep it all
going.
We’re making headway at bringing our facilities back up to par.
Over the past 5 years we have tackled major repair projects including, but not limited to: rebuilding our bridge, Chapel roof reinforcement, saving Warner Hall from collapse, and rebuilding our dam.
This coming season we have plans to work on the following projects: new signage, new camp entrance and parking lot for registration days, installation of generator that will power critical areas of
camp, repairs to the director’s house, painting the pool, continued
work on building foundations and re-leveling of cabins, new
maintenance room in basement of conference hall, new roofs for
cabins, and much more.
We are also looking forward to having our supporting churches
help us in the spring with maintenance on their assigned building.
Having the churches take this on is a huge help in getting ready for
the summer. Keep your eye out for details, and please consider
having your church sponsoring some of the costs associated with
repairs.
We are also looking for individuals that can commit some time to
doing small projects. We need volunteers to help for one day of
camp maintenance throughout the year. If we had 52 people commit to this need we could have one person per week for an entire
year.
