A large number of parents, staff and students attended the Gala Awards Screening night at the Civic Theatre. ‘Kobe’s Crisis’ was not only a finalist in the Under 18 Film maker category but won the overall award for best original score. What a talented group of students- scriptwriters, actors, film crew, editors, singers and musicians! To win the overall award was so special because I was one of the singers in the soundtrack. I also helped create the lyrics. Lachlan Stephens Being able to film sporting venues around Wagga was exciting and editing those scenes to match the music was even better. Eilidh Lucas Acting in Kobe’s Crisis has been great fun- especially when I got to see the beautiful places around Wagga in winter. Kobe Priest Our movie, ‘Kobe’s Crisis’ not only won the Best Original Score but was also selected as a finalist in the Best Young Filmmaker award for Under 18’s in the Wagga Waggafest Short Film Competition. We won $500 dollars. All finalists are now eligible for the People’s Choice Award ($500). Since Term 1 all 5/6 classes have been learning about Afghanistan and what it would be like to live there, so to help out on Friday 17th of October a group of girls from all Stage 3 classes organised a BBQ for all the other Stage 3 students and teachers, we raised quite a lot of money from this, it was $1 for a fruit box and $2 for a sausage. All the money we raised will be donated to a company called Unicef (The United Nations Children’s fund) who will hopefully take our money and give it to countries around the world. It was a great day and we all enjoyed helping out but none of it would have been possible without the help of Mrs Edmunds, THANKS MRS EDMUNDS! NO MAROON HAT PLAY IN THE SHADE Now that the weather is warming up we will be applying the ‘NO MAROON HAT PLAY IN THE SHADE’ rule. All students are required to wear a maroon hat if they want to play in the sun. New hats are available from the Uniform shop or front office for $12, second hand hats $2 from the uniform shop. Riverina Debating Congratulations to Lachlan Wordsworth of Year 6, who earlier this term travelled to Henty Public School to trial for the Riverina Debating Team. Facing some very strong competition from various schools in and around Wagga Wagga, Lachlan was successfully named a reserve for the team. Well done, Lachlan! Mrs Melissa Smith Debating Coordinator Diverse Drumming Workshop Report On Tuesday 14th October, Jayden Wordsworth, James Neal, Rex Mather and I went to a special drumming workshop at the Civic Theatre. The day started with a quick lesson on drumming technique and we all received a free pair of drum sticks! Then we all went onto the stage and practised playing different types of Tom Tom drums. After that we rehearsed a piece of music called Scream. The teacher even recorded us playing! We felt like rock stars! The workshop was great fun. I learnt a lot and I feel like I am already a better drummer. Joshua Prowse 4/5 Hyden Colour our world 4 Barraba! The Fabulous students of 4 Barraba have been very busy and very creative, showcasing their artistic talents, producing an amazing sea of colour inspired by the artist Kandinsky. It’s a must to visit the office foyer to see the artwork in all colours of the rainbow! 4 Barraba also presented an assembly item and it is wonderful to hear the fabulous comments and feedback, such as, fantastic, the children spoke very clearly, a wonderful effort, future debaters perhaps?
