ISA-Map
Harmonisation of
regional data resources
for cross-border planning

the project
The objective and coincident short title of
the INTERREG III B CADSES project ISA-Map
is the harmonisation of regional or national
data resources for the use of transnational,
cross-border planning between Carinthia,
the Autonomous Region Friuli-Venezia Giulia
and Slovenia.
This concept is based on the understanding that
an effective and strategic regional planning
can only take place on the availability of spatial
information.
Nearly 8o % of all decisions of the public
administration in general and the planning
in particular depend on the availability of
geographical information.
The project sets the task to build up a crossborder infrastructure for geodata which is able to
supply the groundwork of questions as regional
planning, interests of disaster protection, as well
as regional political decisions.
Another main objective of ISA-Map exists in the
better efficiency of modern IT applications via
internet combined with a fast, simple and free
access to geographical data for everyone.

provides the
development
of technical
tools for the
presentation
of spatial
information
on the web.

Developing a “geodata catalogue” for registration
and description of all data according to the
international standards (ISO-Norm 19115).
HarmonISA
This ISA-Map subproject deals with the semantic
balance of ontological based descriptions of landcover types in landuse classifications between
Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Slovenia and Carinthia.
As the result an IT-based query tool for a transnational catalogue of types of landuse which is
to be implemented into the existing KAGIS web
applications is available.
