持続可能なE&P 事業の将来のための「Technology and Innovation」 Technology and Innovation to secure a sustainable future for the E&P industry 北村俊昭 Toshiaki Kitamura 国際石油開発帝石㈱代表取締役社長 President & CEO INPEX CORPORATION E&P 業界は、「Easy Oil Era」が終焉しつつある中、「エネルギー需要増」と「環境負荷の低減」という世界規模の困難なchallenge に対してバランスの取れたレスポンスが求められている。このcontext の中で「持続可能なE & P 事業の将来」を確保するためには、「Technology and Innovation」を積極的に追及することが重要。「Technology and Innovation」とは、基礎研究や応用研究などの所謂「R & D（研究開発）」のみならず、革新を意味する「イノベーション」として、現場での改善を含む「新しいアイディアの操業現場などへのアプリケーション」として広く定義し、当社として強く意識している。当社は、UAE をはじめ世界27 か国で約80 のプロジェクトに参画しており、これらプロジェクトへの関与を通じ技術力向上を目指すと同時に、「Technology and Innovation」のコンセプトのもと、更に高い技術力を持ち適切かつ迅速に事業機会にアクセスすることを目指し、よりプロアクティブに「イノベーション」を追求すべく、①大学・産業界との協調（Open Innovation）、特に特異かつ競争力のある技術を持つ日本の大学や産業との協調を重視しつつ、②当社操業現場での技術の実証・改善（Field Based Innovation）に力点を置いている。また、3 つめのソースとして、JOGMEC 技術センター（TRC）は上流に係るR&D 拠点のない我が国にとって極めて重要な存在と認識している。当然ながらこの取り組みの延長線上には海外への展開を念頭においている。アブダビを例に挙げると、INPEX・JODCO とADNOC の強固な関係をベースに、日本発の「イノベーション」をアブダビ油田に適用し、アブダビのfuture challenges に貢献するという「Innovation & Collaboration」を実現させていきたいと考えている。 The E&P Industry currently faces a global challenge as the “Easy Oil Era” is coming to an end. Also, global energy demand is expected to further expand as the world population grows and developing economies expand, and such growth is likely to increase global environmental stresses. To properly address these challenges, “Technology and Innovation” is playing a critical and key role for the E&P industry. INPEX is very conscious of the importance of “Technology and Innovation” defining it as covering a wider scope, i.e. not only an R&D scope, but field based innovation including “Kaizen” or continuous improvement in work practices. We at INPEX are engaged in about 80 active projects across 27 countries. Through our involvement in those projects, we enhance our own technical strength, and INPEX is working on “Technology and Innovation” concept, based on fundamental principles of further strengthening access to open innovation, i.e. partnering with universities and other industries, particularly with Japanese universities and industries possessing cutting edge technologies, and demonstrating these technological strengths through application at our oil and gas development fields with subsequent modifications and improvements as required. Furthermore, we fully appreciate our access to JOGMEC Technology and Research Center (TRC) as the third and vital source of innovation, because it is the only R&D center in Japan specializing in upstream technologies. Additionally, we will naturally consider applying this technology and innovation at our projects around the world, which requires unique collaboration with oil producing countries and our business partners based on mutual trust. Abu Dhabi is a great example of these efforts, where INPEX is pursuing “Innovation and Collaboration” concept through application of cutting edge Japanese technologies to Abu Dhabi’s oil and gas fields, thereby contributing to addressing Abu Dhabi’s future challenges.
