Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Awareness
Designed to provide the students with a comprehensive
overview of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED). The
course will include IED anatomy, IED types, response
guidelines and history of employment. At course completion
participants will be able to demonstrate the following
competencies:
 Define IEDs and understand different designs.
 Distinguish the major components of an IED and identify
the features of potential targets.
 Recognize the different varieties of IED packaged-types
and secondary devices.
 Identify and demonstrate an understanding of nationally
recognized IED safety response measures.
