PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The CSUB Project Management Certi icate Program is designed to give project managers and team members
the tools and skills necessary to successfully manage and contribute to the success of their projects, regardless
of industry or specialization. Best of all it is 100% on line, so even busy professionals can participate when it is
most convenient for them.
The course content is based on A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), Fifth
Edition, 2013, published by the Project Management Institute (PMI®). Project Management Professional (PMP)
Certi ication is available through the Project Management Institute. Candidates can satisfy the educational
contact hour requirement by successfully completing this program. CSUB Extended University is an approved
PMI Global Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.).
Students can take all ive courses and receive a certi icate of completion, or just the courses you need to skill
development and improvement, or to ful ill the PDU requirement for the PMP® Certi ication.
ADMISSION
Admission is permitted any quarter. If you do not have any project management background or knowledge it is
suggested that you enroll in either Fall or Spring quarter and take the courses in sequence. If you are going to
complete all ive courses for the certi icate, you must complete an application form and pay the application fee.

COURSES TO BE COMPLETED
Introduction to Project Management
MGMT 801 - 1.2 PDU - 12 hours
This course introduces the concepts, processes, and knowledge areas of projects.
Project Planning and Scheduling using Microsoft Ofϐice Project
MGMT 802 - 1.6 PDU - 16 hours
In this course, you will learn how to plan and schedule your projects using Microsoft Of ice Project.
Managing the Project Team
MGMT 803 - 1.2 PDU - 12 hours
Management of project teams is dif icult because of the unique dynamics of a project team. This course emphasizes
how improved communication in project teams can help achieve project success.
Project Procurement and Quality Management
MGMT 804 - 1.2 PDU - 12 hours
This course addresses how to procure quality goods and services for your projects. You will also learn how to
implement quality management principles in your projects to help improve the quality of your products and services.
Project Ethics and Risk Management
MGMT 805 - 1.2 PDU - 12 hours
This course addresses the ethics involved in projects from the perspective of the PMI® Code of Ethics. You will also
learn how to determine what risks may affect your project, how to assess the potential impact of these risks on your
project, and how you can protect your project from these risks.
All courses are graded on a credit/no credit basis and carry professional development units (PDU) and not academic
credit and therefore can not be applied towards a degree unless permitted by a university.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
R. Dohn Kissinger, MBA, PhD, PMP
Dohn Kissinger helps organizations plan projects so they inish on time and within budget. He has over 25
years of business and project management experience, and is the developer of The 7 Steps to Project Success™.
He was awarded an MBA at California State University, Sacramento and a Ph.D. in Engineering from Purdue
University. He is certi ied as a Microsoft Certi ied Technology Specialist (MCTS) in Microsoft Project and
Microsoft Project Server, a Microsoft Certi ied IT Professional (MCITP) in Enterprise Project Management
(EPM), a Six Sigma Green Belt by the American Society for Quality (ASQ), and a Project Management
Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

PMP® Exam Preparation

This course is offered in the Winter and Summer Quarters and is not required for completion the CSUB Project
Management Certi icate.
PMP® Exam Prerequisite:
To be eligible for the PMP® Exam you must have completed 35 hours of Project Management education.
