Congratulations to Ms. Beatrice Collins, the recipient of the
2014 Dr. Andrew V. Stevenson Scholarship ($1,000)
sponsored by Kappa Beta Delta International Honorary
Society (KBD). KBD is a division of the Accredited Council for
Business Schools and Programs [ACBSP]—the accrediting
agency for the Business Division at Lawson State. She
represented Region 3.
Presently, she serves as a member of the Lawson State
Ambassadors; President of Phi Beta Lambda (A student
organization in the Business Division); President of Kappa
Beta Delta International Honorary Society; member of Phi
Theta Kappa Honorary Society; assists as needed in Student
Support Services; recently won first place at the PBL State
Leadership Conference in Parliamentary Procedures, Sales
Presentation, and Who’s Who in the State of Alabama.
Beatrice also gives back to the community by assisting in the
church, working with environmental clean-up projects, tutoring/mentoring low-achieving school
children, mentoring gifted children, helping the homeless, etc. All of these experiences have been
emotionally rewarding and at the same time, she has realized that helping others is one of her
purposes in life and is grateful to have a passion that is internally rewarding.
Along with her many services / activities, she is still able to maintain a 4.0 GPA and her status on
the President’s List at Lawson State.
Upon completing of her undergraduate studies, she plans to attend graduate school to attain a
master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource
Management. These skills will be used to become an entrepreneur.
