Have you heard about Power Hour in the
MCC? If you haven’t been, then you are
missing it. Power Hour is a collaboration
between the Multicultural Center and Counseling Center. The two offices come together monthly to provide time and space for
students to discuss issues that impact our
communities. There are very few rules.
1. Be honest with your input, 2. Be respectful of
others, and 3. Remember that sometimes things
are revealed during Power Hour that are personal
in nature so keep the information you hear confidential.
The Next Power Sessions are on January 22 and
February 19. See you then.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Probate
A probate is a how Historically African
American Greek letter organizations
formally present their newest members to their university. On November
16, the Tau Rho Chapter of
Alpha Kappa Alpha introduced their
newest members:
Courtney Hoskins, Breonna Jones,
and Gabrielle Tiggs (pictured to the
right) to the USI community. The
event began with a march, very elaborate “greetings” to the other AKA’s in
the room as well as the other Historically African American fraternities and
sororities that came from the Evansville community in the room. The three
went on to demonstrate their mastery
of AKA history, and ended with a
stroll.
It has been many years since USI has
had a probate, so this was the first
time most of the attendees had witnessed one.
