Applications in the prescribed forms (in EIGHT sets) are invited from qualified candidates of
Indian nationality for the post of ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN in the Karnatak University/
Library/Constituent Colleges/Post Graduate Centres:
A set of eight prescribed application forms can be obtained from the Director, Prasaranga, Karnatak
University, Dharwad – 580 003 in person on presentation of challan for having remitted Rs. 400/- in the
State Bank of India/Syndicate Bank, K.U. Campus, Dharwad or by post duly sending a self addressed
stamped envelope (28x12 cm’s) duly affixing Rs.50/- postal stamps along with a crossed Demand Draft for
Rs.400/- drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, Karnatak University, Dharwad-580 003 payable at K.U.
Campus, Dharwad or by downloading from University website www.kud.ac.in in which case the
prescribed application fees of Rs.400/- will be payable through DD in favour of Finance Officer, Karnatak
University, Dharwad-03.
The filled in applications (duly affixing a passport size photograph at the right side corner of the
application) together with necessary documents and a crossed DD for Rs.600/- (Rs.300/- for SC/ST and
Cat-I candidates) as processing fees drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, Karnatak University, Dharwad
should reach the Registrar, Karnatak University, Dharwad-580 003 on or before 23.07.2014 by Registered
Post A.D. Candidates may also submit their application in person in the Inward Section of the University
and obtain acknowledgement.
Note: Candidates who have applied for the post in response to earlier Notification No. KU/DPAR/
T/2009/117 Dated. 23.03.2010 will have to apply afresh.

An allocation of 8% of total posts in the category of Assistant Librarian shall be accorded to the
candidates from Hyderabad-Karnataka Region, i.e. one post on pooling system basis.
Scale of pay (UGC) :
Rs.15600 – 39100 with AGP of Rs.6000/- p.m.
Knowledge of Kannada is desirable for the posts
Minimum Qualifications.
1. A Master’s degree in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation Science or an
equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks (Or an equivalent grade in a point
scale grading system is followed) and a Consistently good academic record with
knowledge of computerization of library. [A relaxation of 5% is provided from 55% to
50% of marks at the Master’s level for SC/ST/Differently abled (Physically and visually
handicapped) category only. A relaxation of 5% is provided from 55% to 50% of the marks
to the Ph.D. holders, who have passed their master’s degree prior to 19th Sept. 1991.]
2. Qualifying in the National Level Test conducted for the purpose by the UGC or any other
agency approved by the UGC.
3. However, Candidates, who are, or have been award Ph.D. degree in accordance with the
“University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and procedure for award of
(Ph.D. degree), Regulations 2009”, shall be exempted from the requirement of the
minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of
University Assistant Librarian/College Librarian.
Experience.
Service rendered in College/University on full time basis and in approved UGC pay scales
or other Govt. scales and duly certified by the Head of the Institutions will be considered as
experience.
Part-time/Temporary assignments (e.g. guest Faculty) are not considered for the purpose of
computing the experience.
-3Rural Candidate.
. Candidates claiming reservation under rural category should have studied and passed
from 1st to 10th std in rural areas governed by prevailing rules relating to reservations and
shall produce a certificate in Form No-02 issued by the competent authorities.
Physically Challenged:
. Candidates claiming reservation under physically challenged should submit the certificate
from District Surgeon.
Ex-Serviceman:
.
Candidates belonging to Ex-Serviceman category have to produce necessary certificates
issued by the competent authorities.
Other Conditions :
1. Candidate must possess the required qualification/s before the last date prescribed for the
receipt of application.
2. The relevant documents (such as SSLC or date of birth certificate) in support of date of
birth must be enclosed.
3. Latest caste certificate showing in ‘D’ form issued by the Tahasildar.
4. Age of the candidates in the respective categories will be reckoned as per existing rules
prevailing on the last date of receipt of application.
5. Appointment to the posts may be permanent depending upon nature of the vacancy and the
requirement of the University. In such case, they will be on probation for a period of two
years according to the rules of the University.
6. Every appointed Assistant Librarians shall execute a service agreement to the University
signed between the candidate and the University.
7. Candidates selected for the above said posts are liable to be posted to work either at K.U.
Library, Dharwad /Constituent Colleges/ PG centres at Karwar/Gadag/Haveri or any other
P.G. Centres established in future, though the posts are shown as existing at a particular
place at the time of advertisement.
8. Candidates who are in service shall send their applications through their Employer
mentioning all the service details (number of years rendered on permanent basis) on the
day of application in the post/s scale of pay, UGC, State Government Scale of pay etc.). In
the covering letter by the Employer so as to reach the undersigned on or before the last date
prescribed, failing which their applications will not be considered.
9. The copies of the publications and attested copies of Testimonials/ Certificates/Caste
Certificates/ Statement of Marks/ Service Certificates should be enclosed to all the eight
sets, which will not be returned.
10. The applications and processing fee is not refundable under any circumstances.
11. All belated, incomplete and not in the prescribed applications form in the eight sets and
without payment of processing fees and without the downloading fees (in case of
downloaded application forms) will be rejected and no further correspondence will be
entertained in the matter.
12. Canvassing directly or indirectly will disqualify the candidate.
13. The right either to fill or not to fill the above posts advertised is reserved with the
University.
14. The appointment will be made, as per the rules in force.
15. The right to select or disqualify the candidates is reserved with the University. No further
correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
-416. A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the Graduate and Master’s level for the
SC/ST/Differently-abled (Physically and visually differently-abled) categories for the
purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to
the Assistant Librarian posts.
17. The Eligibility marks of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in point scale wherever
grading system is followed) and relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are
possible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures.
18. A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. Degree
holders who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19.09.1991.
19. The period of time taken by the Candidates to acquire M.Phil., and / or Ph.D Degree shall
not be considered as research experience.
20. Candidates who do not fit in the requirement of the post need not apply.
