Ambulance Club rules Subscription in the Ambulance Club relieves the subscriber and, depending on the tier, the subscriber’s household from paying any balances after insurance that is not covered for emergency ambulance service provided by the Longwood Fire Company. LFC will pay: Any non-covered charges or balance remaining after payment by Medicare, insurance, or any other third-party provider. LFC will NOT pay: Deductibles or co-payments remaining after payment by Medicare, insurance, or any other thirdparty provider. In the chance that LFC is not available, or if an outside agency requires one of our paramedics, your subscription will only cover our services. Any bills from outside agencies are the patient’s responsibility. Exceptions to the above-mentioned are calls alerted through the 911 system that DO NOT require transport to a hospital. These calls will be billed as follows to the members: Basic Life Support treatment without transport: $175 Advanced Life Support treatment without transport: $300 Ambulance crew members are certified by the Pennsylvania Department for Emergency Medical Services, and they must operate within established regulations and protocol. Determination of the hospital to which a patient is to be transported is based upon these regulations. IN MOST CASES, THE PATIENT WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO THE CLOSEST HOSPITAL. Ambulance service is NOT provided for non-emergency calls because of the need to keep the ambulance available for emergencies. Commercial ambulance companies should be contacted for non-emergency service. Ambulance Subscription Drive Ambulance club subscription is available to individuals and families only with valid insurance. It is not available for commercial interests such as businesses and industries. It is your responsibility to keep us updated with any insurance changes. Questions? The EMS division of Longwood Fire Company has created this ambulance subscription drive with you, the residents we serve, in mind. If you call 911, we will be there, regardless of whether you are a subscriber. But as a subscriber, you receive the benefit of owing nothing other than your deductible and co-pay. Ambulance subscriptions, or clubs, represent a valuable service in the community that fire and EMS companies are offering. We’ve received comments and suggestions about just such an opportunity, and we are pleased to offer this to the residents we serve starting June 1, 2012. Subscription tiers Single tion, except as provided in the Ambulance Club rules. $50.00 Covers one adult over the age of 18 Household $100.00 Covers one or two adults and any children under the age of 18 who live in the same residence Please note that people without insurance, or those with lapsed or out-of-date insurance, are not eligible. What is the ambulance club? The ambulance club is an insurance policy for you or the members of your household. In the event you should require ambulance services, our billing company sends an invoice for services to your insurance provider. Subscriber benefits Membership for you and members of your household covers any balance for emergency ambulance service during the membership period that your insurance will not cover. Membership does not cover co-pays or deductibles; that remains the responsibility of the subscriber. You are still responsible for your co-pay and/ or deductible, but as a subscriber, any other fees not covered by your insurance are waived, under most circumstances. Non-members are responsible for, and will be billed for, all uninsured ambulance service balances. In addition to covering any out-of-pocket costs for emergency ambulance service after billing your insurance, your membership will also enable us to maintain the most state-of-theart ambulances and medical equipment. Medicare and traditional insurance companies require us to send a bill for services for every emergency ambulance transport (including those for club members). We will recover as much of our costs for your ambulance service as provided by Medicare or commercial insurance. Costs above this amount will be covered by your subscrip- Ambulance service fee structure The amounts we bill for ambulance services are the amounts established by Medicare and commercial insurance companies. All funds received for these billed ambulance services are used to support emergency services provided by the Longwood Fire Company. One hundred percent of your membership fee is used to provide training, equipment, emergency vehicles, supplies, and operating costs needed by our staff of paid and volunteer EMS professionals. About us The Basic Life Support territory we cover includes part of Kennett Township and all of the townships of East Marlborough, Pennsbury and Pocopson. We also provide ALS (Advanced Life Support) services in those areas as well, depending on the severity of the emergency. During the day, our crews staff two MICUs — Mobile Intensive Care Units with an EMT and a paramedic — and at night we staff at least one MICU and one BLS unit. We run on average 2,000 calls a year. EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICE WILL NOT BE DENIED TO ANYONE REQUIRING IT, REGARDLESS OF MEMBERSHIP OR ABILITY TO SUPPORT THE COST.
