Announcing Lee’s New Principal Lenichtka Reed June 2014 Dear Lee Community, I am pleased to announce that Lenichtka “Len” Reed will become principal at Lee, succeeding Leslie O’Dell, who will become Program Director for Funded Programs at PPS. Ms. Reed comes to us from California, where she has served as a teacher and an administrator for 14 years. She has taught reading, Language Arts and Social Studies at the middle school level as well as teaching Advancement via Individual Determination, a college readiness, skillbuilding program that Portland Public Schools uses to better prepare more students for college and career. Ms. Reed was in the AVID program as a student and then as a tutor in college after experiencing the power of the program to help historically underserved students reach their potential. Ms. Reed has served for seven years as middle school principal in the Hemet Unified School District in Southern California. She is experienced in the power of positive relationships and collaboration and applies her passion for student learning to catapult their achievement. Ms. Reed’s motto is “if it’s good for kids; it’s good for me.” She describes herself as a parent of a child with exceptional abilities, who has instilled in her the drive for every child to feel valued. She is looking forward to bringing her can-do attitude to Lee School and to lead a team of committed educators, families and community members to foster student achievement.
