Role of Camp Residents in Self-Management
•
Refugee Welfare Committee (RWC) – made up of three elected refugee representatives (elderly, youth,
female) are acting in a coordination role until the overall leadership structure will be established. The RWC
is a resident coordination and leadership body that is consulted on multi-sectorial issues pertaining to
camp life.

Block Leaders – 2 per each block (1 male, 1 female), elected democratically
•
Community Outreach Workers – group of refugees working on small incentives, acting as main
information sharing channel between the partners and refugee community and helping to strengthen the
protection mechanisms from within.

Water Management Committee – responsible for the day-to-day running of water points including
cleaning etc. under close supervision of Solidarities International
•
Community Hygiene Promoters – responsible for awareness to ensure that the environment is cleaned
including the proper used of garbage bins and cleaning of latrines.

Youth Committee
- The youth committee will be responsible specifically for the organization of youth-centered
events, sensitization of the population to youth-related issues, as well as the diffusion of information in the camp.
Women Association/Committee- specific committee to reflect the particular needs and issues faced by women
in the camp.
Market Committee- A refugee/host community group of traders elected to manage the daily activities and
ensure regulations and order are respected in the market.
Community Peace Team: A selected group to support general safety and security in the camp, and also advice
humanitarian actors and local stakeholders on security mitigation strategies.
Pattern in Population Change
Relocation from the Yida settlement began on 30 March 2013 and is ongoing. 2.84% are new arrivals while 97.16% were relocated
from Yida.
