Teacher of the Deaf
MPR/UPR (plus SEN allowance*)
From September 2014, we wish to appoint a qualified Teacher of the Deaf,
with experience of working with SEN children, to our specialist Sensory
and Communication Centre. You will lead our specialist Hearing Impaired
Unit and will work closely with our Speech and Language Unit.
Elm Tree Community Primary School is a good and continuously improving
school. Ofsted commented that the school is calm and harmonious, a place
where pupils are keen to learn and make good progress.

• are outstanding teachers
• have high aspirations for pupils
• hold a Teacher of the Deaf qualification - consideration will be given
to suitably experienced applicants willing to train as a Teacher of the
Deaf
• have an excellent understanding of hearing impairment and its impact
on a child's learning
• can lead a team of specialist support staff to ensure that all hearing
impaired children are making expected progress
• can support mainstream colleagues to meet the needs of pupils with
hearing impairment
• can take an active role on our SMT to support the school to move to
outstanding.
