Fr Scott Says: So this last week was Natural Family Planning (NFP) Awareness week. Unfortunately I
did not notice that until half-way through the week. There are many myths and false claims about NFP.
No, NFP does not mean big families. Though, I did recently read that big families are the new “green”,
and we all need to be more “green” (caring for the environment), right? Another false claim is that NFP
simply does not work. Au contraire, my dear spiritual child. In reality it does work. I happen to know
folks personally who have both used NFP to more easily conceive as well as others who have used NFP
successfully to avoid conceiving. But what really matters, is that NFP families have a 2% divorce rate.
Compare that to the national divorce rate of 50%. I’d say NFP is the easy winner there. NFP families, I
have personally observed, communicate more fully. Why? Because both spouses are involved in the
effort, instead of just one popping the pill or the other having some operation. When you do that, you
sterilize your love. But when you practice NFP, you share a life-giving love because you are open to
God’s will over your own. So why not give it a shot? What’s the worst that could happen? And is that
answer really such a bad after all?
Please Pray for all who are sick.

loving family.
St Elizabeth Fair News: Please help us “stock up” some of our smaller booths for the Parish Fair. The
items we need are: silly string, jump ropes, 3-pack of bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and small plastic bug
catchers. All of these items can be purchased at Dollar Tree or Walmart. Boxes will be placed at each
entrance in the back of the church beginning this weekend. Thank you for your support! If you would
like to volunteer for the parish fair in any way, please contact Lisa Chicorelli at 645-0398. Your support
is greatly appreciated!
