The course provides foundational concepts and principles necessary for successful completion of the Non-commissioned Academy Advanced Leadership Resident Education (NCOA-ALE). Course 15 V1 and the NCOA Advanced Leadership Education make up the two phase of leader development for junior NCOs. This course announcement is designed to provide short term enrollment policy to facilitate the transition to EPME Next. Course 15 V1 is the educational prerequisite for the NCOA-ALE. As such, it is highly recommended students approach this course as one provided at a civilian educational institution with applicable study habits and note-taking to ensure mastery of the leadership concepts and principles. Students will be held accountable for the material during leadership immersion laboratories and other evaluations during attendance at the NCOA-ALE. Course Structure and Availability Course 15 V1 will be available to the general public beginning 1 Oct 2013 @ 0900 CDT and will be comprised of the following materials: 1. I. Capstone Case Study All students currently in enrolled in Course 15 V0, will continue in their current course until one of five actions occur: Action Restrictions Version Enrollment Student completes all V0 course requirements No further actions N/A Student request to change from V0 to V1 No waiting period (Option 1) Student will enter a 3-month waiting period. Student request voluntary disenrollment (Option 2) Student may immediately reenroll into V1. Student course fails (CF) from the program (2x set failure) Student enters “Non-Participation Time Limit Exceed” (Option 1) Student will enter a 3-month waiting period. Student will dis-enroll from V0 and reenroll in V1, starting at the beginning program with new enrollment date. Student will need to contact DL Support to re-enroll in V0 and resume the course at the point before entering the waiting period. Note: The course expiration date will be set to 30 Sep 2014, no course extensions will be given. Student will enroll in V1, starting at the beginning program with new enrollment date. Student will need to contact DL Support to re-enroll in V0 and resume the course at the point they enter the waiting period. Student will enroll in V1, starting at the beginning program. Student will enter a 6-month penalty period. (Option 1) After penalty period, student will need to contact DL Support to reenroll in V0 and resume the course at the point they enter the waiting period. Note: The course expiration date will be set to 30 Sep 2014, no course extensions will be given. (Option 2) After penalty period, student may enroll in V1, starting at the beginning program. Important Note: Students SHOULD NOT click the “New Version Available” link, located under Course Information section of AUSIS…clicking this link may cause the student to take the wrong course test. For more information, contact DL support at www.aueducationsupport.com Eligibility The following table details the short term (temporary) eligibility requirements for Course 15 V1: Rank Requirements Educational Prerequisite Active Duty Air National Guard Air Force Reserve TSgt w/greater than 2 years TIG that also have 2 or more deferments from NCOA E5 with 96 months TIS & 7 skill level & E6 with 7 skill level & E7 promoted under EPME Air Force promotion deferment policy Note: Air Technicians cannot use Civil Service status to determine eligibility E5 – with 72 months TIS & 7 skill level & E6 with 7 skill level Note: Air Technicians cannot use Civil Service status to determine eligibility ALS or acceptable equivalent ALS or acceptable equivalent TSgt w/ less than 1 year TIG TSgt returned from NCOA to home station prior to graduation as a result of government shutdown Airman Leadership School Registration Students meeting the above eligibility requirement should take the following steps to register for Course 15 V1: 1. Create/Access a profile on the AU Portal: located at https://auportal.maxwell.af.mil 2. On the left hand side on the screen. Select “Distance Learning” / “NCO Academy” / “AUSIS” 3. You will be redirected to the Air University Student Information System (AUSIS) website a. New AUSIS Users Only – On the middle of the screen, click “Request Student Access” button i. Read/Accept the disclaimer ii. All items with an red * must be provided to successfully create an account, with a special note to the following fields: 1. Service: a. Active Duty – Air Force Enlisted b. ANG – Air National Guard Enlisted - (EAD)(Full Time) c. ANG – Air National Guard Enlisted - (Non EAD) (Part Time) d. AFRC – Air Force Reserve Enlisted – (EAD)(Full Time) e. AFRC – Air Force Reserve Enlisted – (Non EAD) (Part Time) 2. Note: To locate your Test Control Facility (TCF), click on the “Change” link next to the “Select TCF” field 3. Select your state and pick the location where you will be testing. iii. Once all red * are provided, click the “Save” button iv. If account setup is unsuccessful, you will need to contact the DL Help Desk at http://www.aueducationsupport.com for assistance registering your account. v. Under the “Select a program to enroll in”, Select “NCOA DL (Course 15)” vi. Read and check each of the course acknowledgments vii. Again, verify that your selected TCF is correct viii. Click the Enroll button ix. After successful enrollment, you will received a system generated email with details on accessing your course through the Air University Student Information System (AUSIS) website b. Previous AUSIS Users Only – i. Select “Enroll in Program” located on the left-hand side on the screen ii. Under the “Select a program to enroll in”, Select “NCOA DL (Course 15)” iii. Read and check each the course acknowledgments iv. Again, verify that your selected TCF is correct v. Click the Enroll button vi. After successful enrollment, you will received a system generated email with details on accessing your course through the Air University Student Information System (AUSIS) website Course Materials Course 15 V1 materials will be presented in a portable document format (PDF) format and delivered through the Air University Student Information System (AUSIS) website. Unlike Course 15 V0, there will not be printed materials provided for students use (Note: Due to system maintenance, the AU Portal is currently accessible only through the af.mil domain. Students who are unable to access an af.mil domain, should contact the EPME DL help desk through https://www.aueducationsupport.com). To effectively use the PDF materials, student will access to following resources: • A computer/tablet/phone system w/ a minimum o 1Ghz processor o 256MB available RAM o 2GB of HD space o 800x800 monitor resolution • Broadband Internet Connection (to download course materials) Course Enrollment Period Students enrolled in Course 15 V1 will have 12 months to complete the required course modules and successful pass the end of course exam. Enrollment starts once a student completes the enrollment steps listed above. Students may request a one-time 4 month extension through the AUSIS portal before the course expiration period (detailed instructions will be posted in the student handbook, available in the course material). Enrollments in Course 15 V0 end 30 Sept 2013, students enrolled in V0 must complete all course requirements before 30 Sept 2014. All students without a program completion will be dis-enrolled from V0 at 0800, 30 Sept 2014. No exceptions will be made, and students will be required to re-enroll and complete V1 to gain credit for the program. Testing Students will successfully complete an end-of-course exam with minimum scores of 65% for Set A and 68% for Set B through their registered TCF. A maximum of 2 successive attempts will be allowed to achieve a passing score. Students must order their test through the AUSIS portal before scheduling an appointment with the registered TCF. (Note: Due to system maintenance, the AU Portal is currently accessible only through the af.mil domain.
