In the run up to Christmas I feel it important to
remind you the dangers of leaving valuables
openly on display, both at home and in your car.
We are all busy stocking up on Christmas
presents, but I’d like to remind people not to
leave them on display in their cars or their
homes. Criminals could see this as easy
pickings, not only will you lose your items but it is
also likely to cost you money in having to pay for
repairs caused when breaking in, normally
smashed windows. As we are entering a period
of cold weather, please look out for your
neighbours, particularly the elderly. When you
are defrosting your car, DON’T leave your car
unattended with the engine running. Thieves DO
drive around early in the morning looking for

These are the priorities you told us

Police officers and Police
Community Support Officers have
provided extra attention in this
area on foot, vehicle, quad bike
and cycle patrols. We have also
provided the mobile Police station
for members of the public to use to
discuss any issues they may have.
11 youths have had letters sent to
their parents and 5 have been
taken to their home address and
parents advised. 5 fireworks have
also been seized. A large number
of names have been taken from
youths causing annoyance and
are frequenting this area. We have
stored the details and continue to
analyse looking for the repeat
offenders. Further work will then
be aimed at those responsible.
Our team have also been working
closely with LASBU and will be
starting civil proceedings against
the main offenders.

Patrols have been stepped up
within the area and officers have
already made an impact with
positive feedback from residents
saying that it has been much
quieter and that they are happy
with the difference made.

There has been a 58 % decrease
in offences of theft from the
Broadway / Broad Lane area. The
PCSO’S have been deployed to
this area on a daily basis to
reassure the public and retailers
and to deter the shop lifters from
the area. The PCSO’s have
assisted the stores with some of
the offenders by either working
with the store to implement a
banning order or detaining the
offenders until they are either
arrested or served with a fixed
penalty notice. Paul McNally, who
has an ASBO prohibiting him from
entering the area, has been seen
by PCSO’S breaching the order,
and has been arrested by the
support officers.

On Halloween and mischief night,
a large number of Officers
patrolled the streets with the aim of
minimising damage and ASB. On
both nights there were fewer than
30 reported incidents of ASB and
damage. This was a huge success
and we believe this is largely due
to the large amount of diversionary
activities that were put in place by
agencies within the area. This
includes a large event attended by
over 200 youths ran by PCSO’s
Marie, Vicky and Casey in Walton
Sports Centre. Robby the Bobby
also held his football tournaments.
PCSO Jacqui assisted Norris
Green Youth centre in their
mischief night events which
included a roller disco and
Halloween costume making. Norris
There are a number of things you can
do to help keep your home
safe, such as:
•
•
•
Locking your windows and doors
when you go out or go to
bed.
Using your house alarm if you've
got one. Light timer switches
are a good idea too.
Making sure you lock your
UPVC door properly if you have
one remember to lift the handle, turn
the key and then remove it.
Green alliance arranged a trip to
Blackpool on mischief night and a
Halloween party at Ellergreen
Sports Centre which PCSO’s
Elaine and Sarah assisted with
face painting. Risbury Road
tenants association arranged a
Halloween party with a number of
activities which was well
attended. Local youth centre,
Croxteth Gems arranged an
outing to Blackpool and was able
to take a large number of both
teen and younger children out for
mischief night. The Federation
also took a large number of
children from the area to
Farmegeddon. The agencies
working together helped make a
huge difference and the extra
patrols reassured the community.
Do you want to support local
police in fighting crime and
making our streets safer?
If you’re looking for a new
challenge, volunteer as a special
constable where you will learn
new skills and gain valuable
experience whilst giving
something back to the
community.
