PREPÁRENSE
The Letters of Paul to the Thessalonians
are among his earliest writings, and are driven
by his belief and the belief of the entire early
Christian community that the return of Christ
was imminent. Therefore, to devote time or attention to anything else was foolish.
Las cartas de Pablo a los tesalonicenses
son de sus primeros escritos, y fueron motivadas por su creencia y la de toda la primera comunidad cristiana de que el regreso de Cristo
era inminente, y por eso sería una tontería dar
tiempo o atención a otras cosas.
As time progressed, this fervor
receded a bit. Today we may wonder,
when we hear these readings about
the coming end-times, if we should
take them to heart. What should we
do when we hear that the day of the
Lord will come upon us “like a thief at
night”? (1 Thessalonians 5:2) Does
this mean we are to stop our longrange goal-setting, get rid of our yearly calendars and planners, or stop putting money in the college education fund? Of course not.
What it does mean is that we need to change
our lives, living like children of the light and illuminating the world around us with the light of
the gospel. Then, on that day, when the details
of our daily living become unimportant, we will
be ready to find our peace and security in Christ
Jesus.
Con el pasar del tiempo, ese
fervor comenzaba a disminuir un poco. Hoy día, cuando escuchamos estas
lecturas sobre el fin del mundo, podemos preguntarnos si de veras creemos
que Cristo va a venir entre nosotros
como “un ladrón en la noche” (1 Tesalonicenses 5:2). Si la respuesta es “Sí”,
¿debemos, o no, dejar nuestra planificación a largo plazo, deshacernos de
nuestros calendarios y agendas, y suspender los ahorros para la educación universitaria de nuestros hijos? Seguro que no. Pero, lo
que sí quiere decir es que deberíamos cambiar
nuestra vida y vivir como hijos de la luz e iluminar el mundo a nuestro alrededor con la luz del
Evangelio. Entonces, en aquel día, cuando los
detalles de nuestra rutina diaria ya no importen,
estaremos listos para encontrar nuestra paz y
seguridad en Cristo Jesús.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to

The Liturgy of the Word
Reading 1: prv 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31
When one finds a worthy wife, her value is far beyond pearls. Her husband, entrusting his heart to
her, has an unfailing prize. She brings him good, and not evil, all the days of her life. She obtains
wool and flax and works with loving hands. She puts her hands to the distaff, and her fingers ply the
spindle. She reaches out her hands to the poor, and extends her arms to the needy. Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting; the woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her a reward for her
labors, and let her works praise her at the city gates.
Responsorial Psalm:
Blessed are you who fear the LORD, who walk in his ways! For you shall eat the fruit of your handiwork; blessed shall you be, and favored. R~
Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the recesses of your home; Your children like olive plants
around your table. R~
Behold, thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD. The LORD bless you from Zion: may you see

Reading 2: 1 thes 5:1-6
Concerning times and seasons, brothers and sisters, you have no need for anything to be written to
you. For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief at night. When
people are saying, "Peace and security, " then sudden disaster comes upon them, like labor pains upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness,
for that day to overtake you like a thief. For all of you are children of the light and children of the
day. We are not of the night or of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep as the rest do, but let us stay
alert and sober.
Mt 25:14-30
Jesus told his disciples this parable: "A man going on a journey called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them. To one he gave five talents; to another, two; to a third, one-- to each according to his ability.
Then he went away. Immediately the one who received five talents went and traded with them, and made another five. Likewise, the one who received two made another two. But the man who received one went off and
dug a hole in the ground and buried his master's money. After a long time the master of those servants came
back and settled accounts with them. The one who had received five talents came forward bringing the additional five. He said, 'Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have made five more.’ His master said to him,
'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy.’ Then the one who had received two talents also came forward
and said, 'Master, you gave me two talents. See, I have made two more.' His master said to him, 'Well done,
my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities.
Come, share your master's joy.’ Then the one who had received the one talent came forward and said, 'Master,
I knew you were a demanding person, harvesting where you did not plant and gathering where you did not
scatter; so out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground. Here it is back.' His master said to him

more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'"
The Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from
God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through
him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, During the next two
lines, all bow. and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our
sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He
will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the
Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and
the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the
dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Primera Lectura: Lectura del libro de los Proverbios: 31, 10-13. 19-20. 30-31.
Dichoso el hombre que encuentra una mujer hacendosa: muy superior a las perlas es su valor. Su
marido confía en ella y, con su ayuda, él se enriquecerá; todos los días de su vida le procurará bienes
y no males. Adquiere lana y lino y los trabaja con sus hábiles manos. Sabe manejar la rueca y con sus
dedos mueve el huso; abre sus manos al pobre y las tiende al desvalido. Son engañosos los encantos y
vana la hermosura; merece alabanza la mujer que teme al Señor. Es digna de gozar del fruto de sus
trabajos y de ser alabada por todos.
Palabra de Dios. Te alabamos, Señor.

Lectura de la primera carta del apóstol san Pablo a los tesalonicenses: 5, 1-6
Hermanos: Por lo que se refiere al tiempo y a las circunstancias de la venida del Señor, no necesitan
que les escribamos nada, puesto que ustedes saben perfectamente que el día del Señor llegará como
un ladrón en la noche. Cuando la gente esté diciendo: “¡Qué paz y qué seguridad tenemos!”, de repente vendrá sobre ellos la catástrofe, como de repente le vienen a la mujer encinta los dolores del
parto, y no podrán escapar. Pero a ustedes, hermanos, ese día no los tomará por sorpresa, como un
ladrón, porque ustedes no viven en tinieblas, sino que son hijos de la luz y del día, no de la noche y
las tinieblas. Por tanto, no vivamos dormidos, como los malos; antes bien, mantengámonos despiertos y vivamos sobriamente.

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos esta parábola: “El Reino de los cielos se parece también a un
hombre que iba a salir de viaje a tierras lejanas; llamó a sus servidores de confianza y les encargó sus bienes. A uno le dio cinco talentos; a otro, dos; y a un tercero, uno, según la capacidad de cada uno, y luego
se fue. El que recibió cinco talentos fue enseguida a negociar con ellos y ganó otros cinco. El que recibió
dos hizo lo mismo y ganó otros dos. En cambio, el que recibió un talento hizo un hoyo en la tierra y allí
escondió el dinero de su señor. Después de mucho tiempo regresó aquel hombre y llamó a cuentas a sus

servidores. Se acercó el que había recibido cinco talentos y le presentó otros cinco, diciendo: ‘Señor, cinco

bueno y fiel. Puesto que has sido fiel en cosas de poco valor te confiaré cosas de mucho valor. Entra a tomar parte en la alegría de tu señor’. Se acercó luego el que había recibido dos talentos y le dijo: ‘Señor,
dos talentos me dejaste; aquí tienes otros dos, que con ellos he ganado’. Su señor le dijo: ‘Te felicito, siervo bueno y fiel. Puesto que has sido fiel en cosas de poco valor, te confiaré cosas de mucho valor. Entra a
tomar parte en la alegría de tu señor’. Finalmente, se acercó el que había recibido un talento y le dijo:
‘Señor, yo sabía que eres un hombre duro, que quieres cosechar lo que no has plantado y recoger lo que
no has sembrado. Por eso tuve miedo y fui a esconder tu talento bajo tierra. Aquí tienes lo tuyo’. El señor
le respondió: ‘Siervo malo y perezoso. Sabías que cosecho lo que no he plantado y recojo lo que no he
sembrado. ¿Por qué, entonces, no pusiste mi dinero en el banco para que, a mi regreso, lo recibiera yo
con intereses? Quítenle el talento y dénselo al que tiene diez. Pues al que tiene se le dará y le sobrará; pero al que tiene poco, se le quitará aun eso poco que tiene. Y a este hombre inútil, échenlo fuera, a las tinieblas. Allí será el llanto y la desesperación’ ”.

Creo en un solo Dios Padre todopoderoso, creador del cielo y de la tierra, de todo lo visible e invisible;

CAJAS DE ACCIÓN DE GRACIAS
NEED for Non-Perishable Food
Se NECESITA comida no perecedera.
La Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl está colectando alimentos que no se echen a perder para su programa
anual de cajas de Acción de Gracias, que ayudara a
las familias locales en la cena de Acción de Gracias (y
más). Por favor ayúdenos a llenar estas 150 cajas con
frutas o verduras enlatadas, También pude traer frijol, arroz y comidas que no se echen a perder, favor
de ponerlos en los barriles que estarán a las entradas
de las puertas de la Iglesia desde este fin de semana hasta
el fin de semana del domingo 23 de noviembre.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is collecting nonperishable food items for its annual Thanksgiving box program, helping local families who are
in need by supplying all the ingredients for a
Thanksgiving dinner (and more). Please help
us fill 150 boxes with can vegetables, dried
beans, rice, and/or other non-perishable food
by dropping off your donation in one of the food
barrels located by the church exists starting this
weekend thorough Sunday November 23.

and Posole breakfast” for all to enjoy. We will
have craft activity tables for the kids and kids
at heart.
