“MINING, EXPLORATION CONVENTION AND TRADE SHOW
(MINING MAZMA, 2014) ORGANIZED BY FEDERATION OF
INDIAN MINERAL INDUSTRIES (FIMI)
Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Mines, inaugurated the GSI
exhibition stall at the “Mining Mazma 2014” (Mining, Exploration Convention and
Trade
Show) organized by Federation of Indian Mineral Industires (FIMI) at the
Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bangalore on 18th September, 2014 in
the presence of S/Shri Anup K. Pujari, Secretary, MoM and Harbans Singh, Director
General, GSI. S/Shri N. Devaraj, Dr. K. C. Chandrasekaraiah, Dr. L. N. Singh, Dy. D.
G’s, RSAS; Dr. S. S. Nayak, and Dr. H. S. M Prakash, Directors were present during the
inauguration. GSI exhibited its capabilities, achievements and services to the nation in a
befitting manner through front-lit flex posters (18 nos; 6 X 3 ft) occupying a total of 108
Sq.m area. The posters provided a glimpse of present structure of GSI in Mission mode;
commodity-based information about resources and their augmentation over recent years
were highlighted. Newly framed programmes viz., NLSM; IGC 2020; latest additions:
ALH - Dhruv (HGSS), Hyperspectral mapping techniques and Samudra Ratnakar were
highlighted.
Maps of different scales based on themes viz., District Resource Maps (DRM),
Quadrangle Geological Maps (QGM), mineral belts and geophysical maps were also
displayed. Selected publications were put on stands for the three day long exhibition. The
publications included the latest addition Coffee Table Book titled “Thar Desert
Landforms”; besides “Story of GSI”; GSI Records; Proceeding volumes of workshops
and Seismotectonic Atlas etc. Many stake holders, dignitaries including foreign nationals
graced the occasion by visiting the exhibition stall. The FIMI exhibition committee
members effectively interacted with them.
The GSI exhibition stall was awarded the First prize in the Government Category.
