Alcohol and drugs were always a factor and became a part of me growing up. When my father left I felt abandoned, hurt and alone. Even though I had my mom, inside I felt a hole. So I tried to fill it with women, drugs and alcohol. I hated what I became. I hated myself and everyone around me and I became very violent. It wasn’t until I hit lower than the bottom I was already in that I found out the love of Jesus could restore and heal. I was tired of life and the hands I was being dealt. I had tried to commit suicide three times. In July of 2014 I was sent to a mental hospital. I was losing my mind and I had already lost my family. It was there at the hospital on my knees that I found Jesus. I met a woman who told me that I didn’t belong there and told me about the Abilene Dream Center. I was scared but I had nothing else to lose. I didn’t know that God’s perfect love casts all fear away. On July 31, 2014 I made the commitment to choose life. I chose Jesus. I haven’t looked back since. Has it been a struggle? Yes. But without the struggle there wouldn’t have been any growth. I love who I am in Christ. He accepts me for me. I am a better man in Him. I now have so much to live for. Since I’ve been here at the Dream Center I have been learning what it takes to be a Godly man, son and father to my boys. I know what my calling is and who I am in Christ. I thank God for the Dream Center for directing me, discipling me, challenging me to know Christ, and helping me learn God’s purpose for my life. They helped me cut off old habits and I am becoming a better person, a new creation daily.” You are invited to attend our next luncheon! Men’s Home 2802 Old Anson Rd.
