The Perks of Being
a Social Senior
Did you know that
having a variety
of positive social
interactions not
only increases your
emotional wellbeing,
but can also contribute
to your physical
wellness? That’s because
social interaction can
boost self-esteem, which
gives you a more positive
outlook on life. Doctors
have found that people
who have a positive outlook
on life tend to fight diseases
better than people who don’t.
The bottom line? Meaningful
interactions with others enhance
your quality of life (and maybe
even add years to it), making
you feel better and giving you
a reason to rise and shine each
day. Take advantage “of these
many opportunities to enjoy
the company of others.

Being Social in
Your Community
There’s nothing more enjoyable
than meeting new people.
Find those in your community
with whom you share a special
interest, and get social!
Join a Community Group –
Quilting circles, book clubs,
fishing trips etc. Look for
opportunities and more in your
community to make new and
lasting connections.
Volunteer – You have so many
skills to offer. What better way
to use them than to contribute
to a charity of your choice?
You can find all kinds of
organizations to support either
online or in your community.
Do you have a green thumb?
Help plan a community garden.
Do you have the fastest needles
in east? Grab some friends and
knit hats for cancer patients.
There’s so much you can
accomplish when you work
together as a community.
Social Gatherings on Campus
We offer many opportunities
for you to mix and mingle on
campus. Here are a few activities
to look for when you want to
make campus connections.
Happy Hour – Gather with
friends, family members and
staff every Friday afternoon
to enjoy great snacks and even
better company.

Executive Director Corner
Last month
I shared with
you that
our Tree Gala was a success.
However, I did not have exact
numbers at that time. Well, the
numbers are in, and we raised
over $10,000 for the Putnam
County Cancer Assistance
Program. Thanks to everyone
who made a donation, purchased
a tree, or donated their time
to make this a success!
Winter started slowly this year,
but it seems like it has picked
up! We are getting ready for
Valentine’s Day here at the
Meadows of Kalida! We will have
our Sunday brunch this month on
February 8th. Family and friends
of residents are invited. The first
four guests of any resident are free,
and any guests after that are $5
each. We will have a 1930’s theme
meal for our residents this month.
The theme dinners are always a
chance for us to go above and
beyond for our residents.
We’ve been watching a lot of
basketball games! Our parent
company Trilogy Health Services
runs a basketball pool every year. If
anyone is interested in being part
of it, please give me your name and
e-mail address or phone number.
The prizes are usually fairly large.
Thanks for giving me the
opportunity to serve your loved
one. Please let me know if I can
do anything to assist you.
Sincerely,
Steve Apple
Executive Director

Live a Dream
Does your loved one have that
one thing they would love to do
again? Or maybe something
they have always wanted to
try? We would love to assist in
making that happen. Here at The
Meadows of Kalida, we grant “live
a dream” wishes for our Residents!
Please contact Shannon, Life
Enrichment Director, with any
questions about this program.
Kenny S., along with many other Residents, enjoyed
a holiday visit with the 3rd graders from Kalida.

guests are complimentary, and
just $5.00 per person after that.
Hope to see you here!
Theme Dinner
We will travel back in time to the
1930’s this month! On February 26 we will be hosting a theme
dinner for our Residents with
the menu and activities planned

to have a swinging good time!
