Training Calendar
By Tom McDonough, Business Services Representative
Whenever my wife sends me to the supermarket she reminds
me over and over the important things she wants me to get.
When I return I invariably have to go back out again to get
the things I forgot. Years ago I should have invested in the
company that makes Post-It Notes. I’d be rich. I realize many
of us are like this. Life is busy and unless we write it down or
have another way to remember important things, those
thoughts abandon us never to be seen again. Well, they may
visit us one last time – around 2:30 in the morning – then
they’re gone for good. But while writing it down helps, it may
not be the complete solution. I’m human. Even if I put the
shopping list in writing I still forget items…or lose the list!
The services offered at BerkshireWorks Career Center are
like those important items on the shopping list. Just because
you read about them or someone told you about them doesn’t
mean you’ll remember all of them. You may also have no idea
who or what BerkshireWorks is. When I say I’m from
BerkshireWorks the one line that makes me cringe is, “Oh,
you’re from the unemployment office!” Unemployment support at BerkshireWorks is essential, but we do so much more.
If you’re a business with one or a variety of needs,
BerkshireWorks is a resource that can help. We advertise job
openings that businesses and organizations are seeking to fill,
at no cost. We provide guidance for programs such as worksharing, other layoff aversion strategies, the new apprenticeship initiative, and training subsidies for new and current
employees. We also tailor labor market data for your company, as well as present information on grant funding and tax
incentives. And our doors are always open for your job fairs
and recruitment events at no cost.
Whether your focus is recruitment, retention, training, or
expansion, BerkshireWorks Career Center has the tools to
help you make it happen. So when you read or hear about
resources available at BerkshireWorks, make a note of it just don’t lose the note! ■
At the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, we know just how important lifelong learning is to personal and professional
development. Here are the training programs, workshops, and seminars happening throughout the County.
