P.14 A I R E A B R I L 2 0 15 Dear Reader, It has been another busy but exciting start to the year for Aeromexico, and I wanted to take this opportunity to share some recent highlights and achievements so far. To start, on March 26 we began our new daily direct flight to Miami, departing from Terminal B at Monterrey’s International Airport, on our Embraer 170 fleet with capacity for 76 passengers. It is our ninth international destination departing from Monterrey, an important airport for Aeromexico and for the region, we therefore continue to strengthen our presence in this important and growing city. We are currently operating 26 routes to domestic and international destinations through the Monterrey airport, including our recently launched routes to Tokyo, New York, Houston, and now Miami. Last month we also connected Mexico City with Medellin, Colombia with four weekly flights on our Boeing 737 with capacity for 124 passengers – 12 of which are in Premier Class. Passengers flying from Medellin to Mexico City can connect to 45 domestic destinations including Acapulco, Aguascalientes, Bajio, Cancun, Chihuahua, Guadalajara, Ixtapa, Los Cabos; to 15 important cities in the US such as Houston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Francisco as well as cities in Europe and Asia. Medellin is our fifteenth Latin American destination, with 18 weekly flights from Mexico City to Colombia (14 to Bogota and four to Medellin) thereby transporting roughly five thousand passengers per week. I’m also proud to let you know that Aeromexico has recently become the first Mexican airline to be added to the Mexican Stock Exchange’s Sustainability Index, a distinction that gives Aeromexico important exposure to a new group of investors while acknowledging our many efforts in the area of Sustainability and Social Responsibility, including our recent fleet renovation program, the use of biofuel, philanthropic support, vital organ transport, green flights and the use of biodegradable materials, among others. These have helped Aeromexico achieve the many important benchmarks for which we have been acknowledged as we make important contributions to the environment and the world around us. Para algunos, es el documento más importante, la piedra angular, de cualquier negocio. Para otros, se ha vuelto un escrito tan trillado, “rollero” y basado en suposiciones –un ejercicio formal con poco de fondo– y, por lo tanto, prescindible a la hora de crear una empresa. Después de horas dedicadas a hacer un plan de negocios propio (y leer decenas de ellos) mi opinión se encuentra a medio camino: un programa detallado para tu negocio podrá no ser la panacea ni la clave del éxito pero es un documento fundamental para guiar tus primeros pasos en el mundo empresarial. El error más común es pensar que puede ser más de lo que es. Hay que distinguir perfectamente bien sus usos y sus limitaciones. Lo que un Plan de Negocios SÍ es: Una guía indispensable para organizar tu mente. Cuando damos forma a nuevo negocio, las ideas se salen de control y muchas veces las expectativas de un proyecto dejan de ser subjetivas. Un plan de negocios te permite analizar los riesgos, obstáculos y eslabones débiles de tu iniciativa y así estar preparado para enfrentarlos. Guía para hacer un plan de negocios: Hacer un plan de negocios es simple pero no sencillo. La asesoría es fundamental, sobre todo si es la primera vez que realizas uno. Incluso, si eres un experto es importante tener una persona para rebotar ideas y lograr una mejor perspectiva. La asesoría no tiene que ser cara y puede estar al alcance de todos, no importa si quieres abrir una tortillería o un negocio de alta tecnología. También te puedes apoyar en los libros que se han escrito al respecto. Uno de los mejores (en mi opinión) es Business Model Generation de Osterwalder y Pigneur: una guía práctica, concisa y muy interesante de lo que se necesita para trazar un plan de negocios exitoso. The new theatrical version of this iconic movie is another weapon with which the West End competes to be the epicenter of the musical genre and creates awareness of the power of this industry: last season, it attracted 22 million spectators, a much higher figure from the 13 million counted by the Football Premier League. This play was created by writer Jeffrey Lane and composer David Yazbek when they were commisioned with the creation of a show based on the 80’s cinema. Among the myriad of available options, Almodóvar seemed to be the most accurate. They wanted to tell, onstage, the story of Pepa Marcos, a successful actress whose life starts to spin out of control when her partner, Iván – the womanizer – breaks up with her. The story, directed by Bartlett Sher, is still set in Madrid during the 80’s. Lilu es de esas personas a quien se antoja abrazar, de belleza entrañable y una humildad que sólo el tiempo sabe pulir y lustrar como un diamante. Doña Lilu tiene una herencia de otros tiempos: el Verde, nos dice Dolores, “es un regalo de mis ancestros, de las primeras familias en Xico para el mundo”, un digestivo que nos remota a la segunda década de siglo XX. Apan is the owner of the El cafetal Apan coffee museum, located on Km. 4 on the Coatepec-Las Trancas highway.
