Staff in 2015
From the Vicar
The Rev’d Emily Fraser will be
joining us in February as an
assistant Curate. Emily is a fine
singer and she is currently
undertaking PhD studies in Church
History. Emily will be responsible
for pastoral care oversight in the
parish as well as being Chaplain to
St Andrew’s Choir.
Dear Friends,
2015 promises to be a very exciting year in the life
of St Andrew’s. In February we will be joined by four
new staff, The Rev’d Emily Fraser, who will have
oversight of pastoral care within the parish, The
Rev’d Dr Sharne Rolfe, who will have oversight of
children and families ministry, The Rev’d Andrew
Esnouf who will have oversight of ministry to young
people and The Rev’d Chester Lord, who will
continue as Chaplain at Brighton Grammar as well
as being a non-stipendiary Deacon at St Andrew’s.
This is the first time in decades that St Andrew’s has
had such a comprehensive ministry team that can
minister to all ages.
Our primary focus for this year is outreach, building
on the past successes of the parish and reaching
more and more people in the Bayside region and
welcoming them into relationship with God through
his Son Jesus Christ.
If this is your first contact with St Andrew’s,
welcome.

The Rev’d Dr Sharne Rolfe will
also join us in February 2015.
Sharne is a specialist in early
childhood studies, having lectured
in this subject at the University of
Melbourne. Sharne will take on
responsibility for our children and
family ministry.
Do you have questions about faith?
Does your faith need refreshing?
St Andrew’s will be holding a seven week Alpha
course starting 20 February to explore the
Christian faith. The sessions begin with a shared
meal at 6.00pm on Friday evening, followed at
7.00pm by a half hour presentation and a time
for discussion.
All are welcome to join the Alpha course—do
come along, and spread the word to others who
may be interested.
The Rev’d Chester Lord has been
Junior School Chaplain at Brighton
Grammar School since 2012. He
joins St Andrew’s as an Hon
Curate after his ordination in
February. Chester was born in
South Africa and has worked as a
teacher in a number of Schools
around the world.
The Rev’d Andrew Esnouf was
ordained in February 2015 and
has been appointed to St
Andrew’s as a curate with special
responsibility for ministry to
young people.
Major Dates for 2015
St Andrew’s Choir
We are delighted to welcome back our 40-voice St
Andrew’s Choir for another thrilling year of music and
ministry. Music has played an integral part in the life
of St Andrew’s since 1843; the St Andrew’s Choir is
one of the oldest continuing musical institutions in the
southern hemisphere!
Through five different church buildings, thousands of
Choristers and over 25 Organists and Directors of
Music, St Andrew's has been renowned for the
excellence of the choral and organ music performed
each week in worship and in concerts.
The present-day St Andrew’s Choir, including Choral
Scholars from Brighton Grammar School, Firbank
Grammar School and adult volunteer Choristers, has a
large and ever-increasing repertoire of fabulous music
mostly accompanied by our magnificent War
Memorial Organ, one of the grandest musical
instruments in Australasia.
We’re all looking forward to the musical life of St
Andrew’s in 2015!
You can see our website for
further details about the music in our worship and in
our concerts.
