Ellis Elementary School in 1953 when the Carter G. Woodson High School opened • The Training School property is now being converted into a memorial park CARTER G. WOODSON HIGH SCHOOL • Opened in 1953 for African Americans • Was on the current primary and elementary school site • The legacy is carried on in the title of the current primary and elementary school – which is known as the Carter G. Woodson Education Complex. Carter G.
