BTI BT120 LED Marine Lantern Range in excess of 5 Nautical Miles Fully integrated Lantern: The BT120 LED Marine Lantern has been designed especially for use on offshore wind turbines. With 120cd as min. intensity it has a good safety margin as a 5NM light according to IALA recommendations. With its upper limit of 180cd it meets the WSV requirements for marking offshore wind turbines and thereby minimizes "light pollution". It can be built as all round light, or shielded to any horizontal light angle. It is a rugged and compact design with base and dome molded in polycarbonate. The optical system is built with state of the art high bright light emitting diodes and precision lenses and diffusers. The lantern has built in GPS receiver for synchronization with other lanterns. As day night switch it has internal photocell, as well as astronomic clock. It can be programmed to use either the photocell or the astronomic clock, or a combination of the two. The astronomic clock can either use the actual GPS position or a fixed position to determine dusk and dawn. An offset to dusk and dawn can be entered. The flash character can be set to any rhythm, either by an internal DIP switch, or via its RS‐232 serial port. The lantern has been preprogrammed with six of the most commonly used flash characters. Other characters to be set from a laptop. Synchronization time is as default UTC 00:00:00, but can be delayed to match other type of lights. For shorter range the intensity can be dimmed down to zero via the serial port. The threshold for the photocell and the hysteresis is also programmable.
